I'm having two problems, possibly unrelated:
1. Since updating to OS X 10.6.7, fonts are completely messed up and unusable in Flash CS5, here's a thread about it: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/825673?tstart=0
The problem seems to be related to the OS X update, but I can't afford to downgrade at the moment: I'm in the middle of 3 huge projects and if any of my applications or even preferences gets messed up, I could miss deadlines.
This brings me to my second problem:
2. When I validate my fonts in Font Book to see if everything is okay, I get loads of error messages and warnings. So I thought "Well, fine, let's delete those fonts, I don't care, maybe that will fix some problems", only to find that Font Book doesn't actually delete anything at all. If I relaunch Font Book, the same errors come up with the same fonts.
Here's a screen shot:

So I would like to know whether I should actually bother trying to delete these fonts with other methods or not? These are all fonts that were copied over and over throughout the years from PCs to Macs, and it's quite a big collection.
Though I cannot understand how something as simple and unimportant as a font can cause problems, and how it can become corrupted from copying (I imagine digital files should not be corrupted from copying, otherwise the system should report an error).
Is it normal that Font Book does not delete the fonts I select? I checked the checkmark next to about 450 fonts and clicked "Remove Checked", it asked me to confirm and I did. It seemed that the fonts were gone, but there was nothing in the Trash, and upon relaunching font book, the fonts were back.
This has always been like this, as far as I can remember, way before the 10.6.7 update, which is why I don't know if it's related to the Flash issue.
Late 2008 15 inch Unibody MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.7 as of whenever that came out.
