View Full Version : if you want more tilt when using a smartcover...

I don't know if others already knew about this, but I find this trick to be really useful, at least for me.

I am really happy with the smart cover, except for the lower-than-optimal angle in a typing position. I wish it could be tilted a little bit more when e.g. I do a web browsing on a table or something.

Instead of Apple's recommended way of folding the cover (i.e. creating a triangle that goes to the upper position of the iPad), it can be folded in a differently as shown in the second picture -- the edge of the cover goes to the gap between the 3rd and 4th slices. Another advantage of doing this is, the back of iPad does not have to touch the table, if you are concerned about the scratch.

Of course, it is not as sturdy, but it is sturdier than you may think. Try it. I hope this is useful for you.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of using that way but will now.

Great idea! That was one of my complaints about the smart cover also.

Tried it with my leather and worked fine. It was pretty stable too.

I believe it was mentioned before, but was lost in the sea of other threads. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1128924&highlight=middle+position

Mine doesn't work. It isn't stable. It slips and such. I'll try again.
