I don't know if I can take the glossy screen of the newer iMacs, so I'm considering a mini + anti-glare monitor instead.

Ideally it would have speakers built-in to keep it as close to the contained setup of the iMac as possible.

Is this a good monitor (well, essentially television) for the mini?

Obviously, I wish it was higher resolution instead of only 1920 x 1080, but my current iMac is only 1920 x 1200, so I guess it's close.

I have owned Dell monitors and had no issues with them. I prefer, a standalone unit, without a tuner. This one has a lot of connectivity options and can also be used in portrait mode.

This one is an IPS panel. My oldest one is approx 9 years old and still working great. More expensive, but this one should last you a long time 😉

Good luck 😀

Hi glitch,
if you care for quality in your monitor, then there is only one choice ➡ IPS monitor.
There are less & less of them available on the market & being replaced by a sea of cheap ± $200 "crappy" 'wanna be Monitor, too' examples in every computer department nowdays...
