So I stumbled across this artical this:

Does anyone know if you can do the same thing with the firewire port on a terrestial HDTV set-top-box? This port is normally used to send the video signal to a D-VHS deck (and will probably be used in BluRay/HD-DVD recorders). Wasn't this the same reason firewire was added to cable boxes in the first place?

That article is self-explanatory. Follow the link to the FireWire SDK and start using Virtual D-VHS. Try out that AV/C Browser app. Have fun. I have a JVC HM-DH30000U (D-VHS VCR) and it works great with my dual G5.
