Nope, it's a Civic 1.8ltr petrol SE built in Swindon UK for the UK/EU market, driven and pictured in Jersey not New Jersey (the original and still the best).

Believe it or not, it doesn't occur to many Americans that there are or ever were places in other parts of the world that our cities that start with "New" were named after. Few know of a York or Jersey or Hampshire or Orleans, etc. In some remote part of Americans' brains, they might have an inkling, but in real awareness terms, those places don't exist.

(I know because I am one)

PS No one thinks of Indians when they mention the state of Indiana.

It is azteK mind you. Insults from someone who can't spell don't really phase me.
Naw, I know about 98% of the population thinks its ugly. But its us 2% who like them, and cause them to grow on our friends, and spread the likers. My selling point: once your inside you can't see the outside.

I will be brave enough to admit that I am also one of the 2% that think the Aztek really looks cool, I fell in love with them backwhen they gave one away on Survivor.
That being said I think I am also in the 2% that thinks the Scion XB is uglier than sin.

I have mixed feelings about the aztec - on one hand, I don't think it is a very attractive car - especially two-toned.

OTOH, I remember reading about all kinds of novel features, especially regarding the tailgate - such as a camping package (iirc) that hooked on the back. I am afraid I can't remember the specifics, but I do remember being impressed by the creativity and utility.

Just got this on Friday.

Very nice MPW. I had a black 2.2L diesel version of the new civic for a few days and it flew between 2700-3500RPM. Really enjoyed it.

also - in that red colour scheme and from the front profiles there, it looks a lot like the Type-R version. Quality.

There are some cool European hatchbacks that I wish we could get here. Very nice, MPW.

We're currently trying to decide between a Civic Hybrid and a Prius, and since I have owned three Hondas and Toyota dealerships are seling Prius' over list, it's not hard to guess which way we are leaning. :)

I'll post a pic of my Civic tomorrow - my third, this one currently with 100,000 miles.

I fell in love with it the first time I saw one back in 01. I told my dad that someday I was going to own one. And look how it turned out.

I do like the XBs, but the Element is the ugliest thing ever.

Naw, the 01 two-toned was rather unattractive. And they do have a lot of versitile options, such as the camping package. You can get an airpump to fill your air mattress, or bike tires, or tek tire I guess. They have the very verisile roof rack. The camping package tent is an extention of the tek, although, I'd never own something that ugly......[here it comes..]

OT: as I type my sister is ordering her MacBook 13". First mac for the family. My mini won't be too far behind.

That's a fantastic looking car mpw! Just wondering what you think of the ride quality? I've read in a few reviews that its a bit tough. What do you think?
First impression is the ride is over-firm but it really is very comfortable. The problem seems to be that there isn't much sound insulation so you hear a lot more of what's going on both from the suspension and engine, but not the road or wind??. It's not really a problem though as the petrol engine sounds good for a 1.8four and the suspension only gets noticeable over speed bumps and potholes.

How do you mean you can hear the suspension? Didn't actually know suspension made sound. Is it annoying?

You can hear the car thumping across potholes more than you can on a new Renault Clio, which has a great ride. It's not annoying that bad but it is noticeable especially as tire/wind noise is well suppressed.

The Rendezvous is the better looking of the two. It should of been what the Aztek looked like. On the behalf of GM, I apologize for the blunder of the Aztek and the CSV Minivans(Uplander and its rebadges). Those vehicles are the worst vehicles GM has ever made in recent years. Thank god one of them is already dead. At least the Pontiac variant dies this year as it isn't apart of Pontiac's "performance" image.

Here's my car (updated pictures). It's a 2000 Chrysler Concorde.

I just had the bumpers repainted (some paint was chipping - I purchased it like that from the pervious owner), had all badging removed, and had an additional clear-coat applied. Looks awesome. I'm thinking window tint too.

it's quite a nice car, actually. the turbo and the tiptronic transmission make it one heck of a ride.

Nice Indigo Blue Passat :) .

I have a same color 2000 Passat Turbo pictured in this thread too. You can enjoy the turbo even more if you get a chip for your car, an additional 50 hp, and 100 lb/ft of torque for your nice German sedan :) .

One of a couple of things to be putting a smile on my face, got my new car! *dances about*

Honda haters, ****. Thanks.

<snip>
How'd you like your new car now you've driven it a bit?

Two things to note about my Honda that I'm a little dissapointed over is;
1st - The light weight feel to things like the door handles and body, they work perfectly and are very well put together just 'feel' a little light weight or thin, but NOT flimsy.
2nd - The engines again really well put together and the gearbox is a joy to use but I'm using the gearbox so much more than I'm used to due to the lack of torque. This engines has to be, and loves to be, kept revving.

There's a very good chance I'll be picking up a considerable cash bonus later this summer and have put the S2000 on my List™* just looking for an appraisal on how it drives.**

* Aren't wish list great? Hmm S2000 or MX5 or SpeedTriple or MacPro Quad and dual 30" ACD's or dump the wife and take DCV to Hawaii (tell me that offer doesn't bump me up her's(her list that is))
** Just how it drives, I'll trust the styling to myself or others thanks e'

Awesome car, and even better pictures! I always liked the look of those.

I've been wanting to take mine out for a good photoshoot but the weather has been so terrible lately...

vniow, don't feel bad. The Principal of my high school who makes well over $100,000 a year drives the same car-ish. Always makes me chuckle a little. He surely can afford something better then an early 90s Ford station wagon.

My Principal had a ford escort until a kid flipped his chevy blazer over in the parking lot and crushed it. Then he got the mercury version of the escort. He just got a new loaded Honda Accord. Its funny though, a lot of students have nicer cars than the teachers. My neighbor drives a 2003 Pathfinder LE, there is another girl with a pathfinder LE, a kid with a Saab 9-3, and some new ford Taurus's. A lot of teachers drive old mercury sables, old hondas, and pathfinders.

There are 3 teachers that have nice cars. 1) SPED teacher- Mercedes C320 4Matic & old style E320, 2) Spanish Teacher- 2006 Audi A6 4.2l, 3) Engineering Teacher: 2002 Corvette and 2005 Mini Cooper S (used to be architect).

All the middle school teachers seem to have volvos, saabs, or VWs.

One stall will have a lift and all stalls will be a bit wider than standard. I want a "designer" garage with room for cabinets/tools and good lighting. AND a nice floor. Looks like you're a bit ahead of me. Cheers

Ok, bear with me. All these cars are actually mine, ie I'm still making the payments and have my name on the titles.

Eldest daughters ride: '96 Honda Accord EX V6(no name:( ). Leather, the works. A pretty sweet car. This pic was taken b4 my daughter moved up to Michigan and b4 the accident. I'm told that it was put together again fairly nicely. I haven't seen pics of the damage or after the fixin'. Hmmm, not sure I want to. Title and insurance will be going to her in August when my eldest son get's his license:eek: . I can't wait to see my next insurance statement.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c203/zagato27/DSCF0943.jpg

Younger daughter ride: '92 Acura Legend Cpe("Ack"). Leather, the works. A very nice car. First experience with an Acura AND an aluminum block. After we got it I went to change the oil and found that someone had overtightened the oil drain plug and then tried to helicoil it and finally just rtv'd it. Hmmmm, replacement pan was $400 the labor was   . Have had some a/c problems but other than that pretty nice. Come August it will go to my son for 6 months to a year. My daughter wants a newer Accord or an Audi A4...98ish.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c203/zagato27/DSCF2156-1.jpg

Wife's ride: '03 Nissan Murano SL ("Scoot"). Funny story here. She was at the GMC dealer and had just driven a Envoy and called me. She wanted to buy it right there. I convinced her to go to the Nissan dealer and test drive the Murano. She called me again and said that it was the car for her. She absolutely loves the CVT. This car is smoooooooooth. I kind of wanted the HIDs and leather but she wanted fabric and no sunroof. Ok, her car so she got what she wanted. We all like the color, pewter. Scoot has been a great car but we're thinking of getting something newer. I'm trying to steer her towards a Subaru B9 Tribeca. Love the looks and the awd. The interior is stunning. Ah yes, notice the Georgia "G" plate on the front. Makes the car! Almost mandatory in my neck of the woods. Course we put it on for daughter #1....UGA grad:)

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c203/zagato27/DSCF0197.jpg

Finally, my ride: '97 Nissan Maxima SE 5spd ("Max", of course:cool: ). Bought him in '00 when he was 3 yrs old with 49k. He's got about 124k now and still runs great. Leather and the works, well almost. He doesn't have the cold wx package....no heated mirrors or heated seats. A bit of a rare car in that he has a 5spd. A few mods: fsb; diamond cut clears; rewired fogs; rewired side markers but nothing major. Will be putting in some H&R springs and Tokico Illuminas shocks later on this month. I can't wait for that. Oh yes, if you look you'll see the Apple sticker on the passenger window...it's good for at least 10 hp! Anyway, these cars are really "Q" cars....sleepers. They handle well. They're built extremely well and the VQ engine is legendary. Now the bad part....my son wants it. A year in Ack and I'll hand it over. I've got to start thinking of a replacement. VW R32? Audi A3? How bout a Subaru WRX STI! Wooooooo Weeeeeee!!!!!http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c203/zagato27/DSCF3007.jpg

Wow, I wish you were my dad ($$$$). My dad was like, "we'll help you buy a 1974 Toyota Corona for $400, but you need to pay us back." (years of joy and misery, that car). Before that, they bought me a 1970 Town and Country station wagon that was all but rusted away (loved that huge piece of crap).

I got seven years out of the Toyota (1986-93). Now I'm into Buick LeSabres (which no one else seems to get--but I don't mind).

I see you are into foreign cars. That's cool. Everyone should do what they want.

As for that oil pan, OUCH. I would have gone to a junk yard and got one and put it on myself for probably less than $100 total. (but if have the coin, why get all dirty?)

Anyhow, nice cars. You have quite a car carousel going there.

Well, It's Texas, so. My house was about $320,000 and its around 4000sqft.

I think when I had the house built back in 2003, it was around $80 a sqft.

I think they would count as middle class.

Ha. In Massachusetts, you'd need at least $600,000 to buy a home like that... Sad how expensive everything is up here.

Dude, that thing sounds mean.

The Altimas have changed pretty dramatically over the years. My Dad had one. I believe it was a '93. It was great fun to drive, though. (2.4/5 Speed) It had over 200,000 miles on it and shifted better than the 2001 Cavalier I had at the time.

It's similiar in power (crazy torque steer), but the SE-R has a much tighter steering and handling feel than the normal 3.5. Plus as previously stated, it sounds much meaner :P.

Not exactly my car, but the same make/model/year*. This is just a cool picture. The owner of this car posted the original on a Prius enthusiast forum, and I photoshopped it up a little to make it look cooler. (Blurred the corners, boosted the color and contrast, made it widescreen-res.)

http://www.hurtley.org/PriusDesktopsm.jpg

*(Mine isn't this 'gunmetal green/gray' color, either. It's a mid tone sky-blue. I originally wanted the 'green' one, until I arrived at the dealership, and he showed me a car this color and told me it was the color I ordered. The brochure and website both make this color look closer to 'moss green' than what it is in reality. In reality, it only looks green when it's parked next to a green building.)

heh. Your 325i reminds me of a close friend. He bought one back in mid '00 (I think he got one of the first '01s off the line.) He works for Intel, as I also did at the time. Around Intel, there was a running joke about how much your car was worth. The thought behind it was that once you had some stock options vest, you'd cash out a bunch to buy a new car. Well, when the stock price went up, the value of those options that you sold would have gone up, too. So you'd calculate the current value of those options, and say your car was worth that much. So you'd have people with $100,000 Toyota Camrys, Million-dollar Ford Broncos, etc.

Well, my friend sold his options at the exact perfect time. Right before the stock price tanked. (Around $100/share. They went down really low, which made many of his options 'under water', meaning the amount of money he had to pay was MORE than the market value.) That meant that he had a $7000 BMW. (I think that's the lowest it got.)

On an unrelated note: I keep seeing your name listed as the last poster in forum lists, and being really confused. My first name is also Ed, and as should be fairly obvious from my user name, my last name begins with "H". A long time ago, I used to use 'Ed H' or 'EdH' as my handle on forums, but that was taken often enough that I finally gave up on it...

BTW, photo was taken by the "Great Green Ogeechee" Cheers

Ok, I'm anticipating some negative response to this post, but that's ok. I have an SVX, the precursor to the WRX and a much better car for touring. It has a 3.3l 230Hp DOHC engine. I would argue that the Subaru engines are some of the best out there, though in all honesty they don't compare to the RB33DETT for sheer output.

Another note: The little known CA18DE engine made by Nissan was one of the first to use direct ignition. The RB33DETT is essentially the same engine +2 cylinders. The Silva used it early on before in turbo trim (CA18DET) before the SR20DET was introduced. The CA18DE was discontinued not because it was a bad angine, but because it was too expensive to manufacture! It had a high parts count and required precision manufacturing tecniques that Nissan could not justify. I would class the CA18DE and CA18DET with those other engines even though its not a popular.

Ok, send the mail, I can take it!

Nah, thats a 2003, with the 4.9 liter V8, bumped up to about 452 hp, up from 395 stock.

Of course, not really close to stock as you see. All Dinan bodywork. Also includes Dinan cold air intake, high flow throttle bodies with velocity stacks, air flow meters, headers, exhaust, 3.45 limited slip differential, free flow exhaust, and stage 2 suspension. Lastly a Brembo big brake upgrade. Badass.

Just sold it, sad to see it go. But this CLS55 will prolly haul even more ass than the m5.

The CLS is quicker in the quarter mile! Trust me, drove em both.

The CLS puts out 470 hp, but has 120 lb/ft more torque on hand, that is what pushes it over the top of the m5. I really didnt like the SMG on the m5 as well, although supposedly they have a 6 speed coming by the end of the year.

The CLS puts out 470 hp, but has 120 lb/ft more torque on hand, that is what pushes it over the top of the m5. I really didnt like the SMG on the m5 as well, although supposedly they have a 6 speed coming by the end of the year.

I see you've read motor trends review... :p

what were your 1/4 mile times? trap speed? care to scan the time slips?

I don't know why I took this picture or why am posting it but this is our local Rovership (45min away, it used to be 20 but then they HAD to get an off road driving course so they moved). They finally have more than 10 land rovers.

Oh Yea, I would like to point out how many garages there are there :). The Volvo dealer has 4.

This maybe so, but I wouldn't want to put up with the lousy reliability of the Mercedes, especially if you could choose between it and the M5. I'd bet the M5 would be quicker on a track (with turns  ) too! Nonetheless, its a seriously awesome car!

Decisions, decisions:rolleyes: . I love the interior of the Range Rover, the exterior isn't too bad either. However, reliability may be an issue. I absolutely love the M5! Push a button for an extra 100hp....wow. Love the exterior of the M5 too. Reliable, fast, great looks and a bit of a "Q ship". My .02....go M5. Cheers

I am leaning toward the M5 but my only thing is that it doesn't do that good in the snow. I love both cars but the reliability on the Range Rover really a major issue, with all the money you spend on these cars you would expect it to run...

I've never heard of wide-spread reliability issues on any of Land Rover's models, especially not on the Range Rover series. The choice of cars you have is somewhat odd. The M5 is a completely different car to the Range Rover. Its like comparing a Bentley to a Ferrari. Similar price range but completely different cars. Either way, both are amazing cars.

What I'm wondering is what all you ppl do to be able to afford cars like this? You must have pretty decent jobs (or very rich parents), or in true American style you're all financing them and don't actually own them!

Buying the M5 is like buying a 4-door Ferrari for half the price, you can't go wrong. It's the hottest looking car by far on the road, and if you hear that V10 rev, your decision will be made on the spot. I GUARANTEE IT!:D

My mom and I were close to the land rover dealership. I told her we should go look at the LR3. Surprisingly she agreed (she hates car shopping and our current land rover discovery is not very reliable). We got out of the car, and literally 30 seconds later a salesman was outside telling us all about the car. We walked up to the showroom and he showed us into one.

You might they are boxy and ugly, but in person they are really beautiful cars. Once you sit in it you will be amazed. You feel ensconced in the firm, yet comfortable seat, you have great visibility- large windows, big windshield, 2 sunroofs and 1 alpine window/moonroof. You really feel like you are in control and towering above everything (this is when the air suspension is at the entry mode- the lowest setting). Its very cool. You might think the interior is too bland for a $40,000+ car, its actually very good quality plastic. I have back problems and I found the seats to be amazingly comfortable. The third row seats have PLENTY of headroom, substantial footwells (many SUVs don't have them making your knees scrunched up), and there is a good amount of footroom and I have a size 11 foot.

I REALLY want one. Before we went my mom thought they were ugly, but after being up close and inside she loves it. She even said to my dad "If we get a new SUV, this is the one to get".

Yea, I don't like plastic- all of them have it. However, a lot of older cars with painted bumpers have chipping paint that does not look attractive.

You really have to sit in one to know what I am talking about. Its just so cool.

I can't believe there's a 93 Mazda MX-6 that still runs. Looks like it's still in good condition too.

My friend's bit the dust in 4 years. Have not seen one on the road since.

I try to keep it in the best condition possible; the paint in the back though is starting to chip. The mechanic who works on it at the Mazda dealership told me that whenever I'm ready to sell it to go see him.

I've seen only one other MX6 on the road, and it didn't look like it was running too good. It was also this ugly shade of celery green. I didn't approve at all.

What happened to your friends car that it died in 4 years??

I fell in love with Land Rovers and Rovers years ago. A good friend had a 109 4cyl. Really just a big aluminum box on wheels and pretty gutless(great gearing and pretty good torque for grunt work but couldn't get out of it's way on the freeway then again it wasn't made for the freeway). BUT, that thing would absolutely go anywhere! We went on trips to Death Valley, Yosemite in the winter and one infamous trip down Hollywood Blvd with the roof removed and 6 or 7 of us whooping and hollering. I swear, we climbed up cliffs in Death Valley. That beast was scary in where it could go...."beast" well actually it's name was "Monst". Oh yes, his mother had a 109 a 6 cyl "Duke", his dad had a Rover 2000 TC "Teec" sedan (4 spd stick as I recall with leather, 4 whl disc brakes with a Dion rear end...inboard rear discs and a rather peculiar speedo....a ribbon). Oh yes, they also had a 88 Land Rover.....the family had just gotten for the younger son and it didn't have a name yet. When I first saw it all I could say was, "the bastard". Reason was it had a number of different body panels from various other 88's. Anyway, it stuck. The new Land Rovers/Range Rovers have come a long way. Think they got better when BMW owned them(think that Ford owns them now) and did a redesign and also new engine....BMW V8 as opposed to the old Buick variant that they had been using. Nice exteriors, great drive trains, and VERY nice interiors. My only gripe/complaint would be reliability. I think that they rank rather low in the JD Power customer satisfaction ratings. You might want to check on that b4 you buy. I see you're from CT. If you're interested in awd you might want to check out a Audi A6 Quattro (50 +k?) or a Subaru....Tribeca B9 (awd SUV) or a Legacy 2.5 GT (all the Subes are awd) would be nice, WRX STI would be even nicer:D Cheers

BTW, my friend's family later picked up one of the early Mini Cooper S (can't remember the year...it had the 1275 engine, duh). I had "hand brake" turns demonstrated to me on the streets of South Pasadena. Wheeeeeee! They also got a Pontiac GTO with "tripower". I can't recall the year on the goat but I did ride in it once, fast......scary fast in a straight line of course. Interesting family, eh?:)

My dad is a pretty big rover fan. The 2nd car he ever owned was an 196x Land Rover Series II 88" wheel base. He sold it for like $1000 many many years ago to his friend and it was in very good condition. At the dealer we saw a 1959 series II selling for $20,000! He also had a 1990 Range Rover a long time ago. Currently we have a 2003 Discovery SE-7 (with that buick engine)

The Current LR3s come with a ford based V6 or a Jaguar developed V8. I wonder how well the V6 preforms. It has 218hp at 4500rpm and its torque is 269 @3000 ft-lbs. The vehicle weights around 5880lbs which is a lot.

Other cars my mom likes are the XC70, XC90, MDX, Aviator, and GX470. We have the Volkswagen Touareg V8, the audi Q7 is basically the same thing only a tad longer and optional 3rd row seating and it costs more.

My mom hates the exterior of the Tribeca, but it does get pretty good fuel economy.

I don't remember what year it was but it was the first year of that style. Most likely the factory hadn't figured out how to put it together yet :D . The transmission was acting up and he traded it in before it completely blew. He's pretty tough on cars but the MX6 fell apart especially quick. He had luck with a Saab - until it got hit. Gotta love driving in Philly.

I drove my uncles 2005 Altima 3.5 and I notice a lot of torque steer and I haven't even driven many cars in my life. It really needs to be AWD or RWD.

I also noticed that even the lightest touch of the pedal makes the car jerk forward quickly. Then again I am used to driving big hunky SUVs. My dads discovery you have to push the pedal pretty far before you start moving quickly, its so that you can have more control when driving slowly off road and you are driving over obstacles.

Prepare to be.....................bored!!! My car is dull and extremely common. But it's my first one and I love it. Had it for 3–4 months now. 1998, LE, 4 cylinder. I originally wanted a compact (like a Civic) but I literally cannot fit my legs under the steering wheels of most. Happy I went with something a little bigger anyway, the size is proving to be most practical.

Isn't it true that these aren't actually 4x4. I saw one towing a boat out of the water on my local beach, and it practically buried its wheels into the sand. I wasn't too impressed. Or is it only the British version which doesn't have 4x4?

They are AWD meaning they have no low range 4WD making them not a real suv.

They have HDC (Hill Decent Control- stolen from Land Rover) but no low range to make it back up the hill they went down.

No Low range for towing anything.

They only come with sport tires ideal for on-road only.

They are really an all show on-road vehicle.

It's a 1979 Toyota Corolla KE55 coupe and Yes it's a cooner/padock basher/rally thrasher or whattever you want to call it. It's straight, runs very well, doesn't leak oil or water, however is full of rust. It is also registerable in South Australia.

Mods so far:
Stripped interior
spooled up diff
Corona mags (I think)

Mods to follow:
1 coil to be out of the front springs (lowers and stiffins)
turn the bottom leaf at the back upside down, and clamp on top, (lowers and stiffens the car)
1.5" to be cout out of each guard (rust removal and guard clearance,) then flair the guards
Rattle can Matt black paint job.

It's light and quick, (well for a 4k,) only thing left to do the the interoir is remove the heater core and this bizzar strip of metal.

Enjoy

Correct you are. That pic was taken in Virginia at the northern end of the Skyline Drive. I was coming back from a business trip to Baltimore and did the Skyline Drive plus then entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway and ended up on the Tail of the Dragon (US129 at the Tennessee border) for desert. It was a magnificent way to spend a few days!

...this is going to hurt!
Here are pictures of my Ferrari, 1980 FTB, I bought it in 1990, I could have bought a new one but at the time I thought the Ferrari designs looked more like "souped up Toyota's" than Ferrari's!
I always loved the GTB and not the "spider" model made for the North American market. It was the European model so it sat very low and screemed like a Banshee...I loved it! Four Webber carbs screeming for more fuel... it even smelled when I started it up ...AND it was SILVER!
I travel a lot and was out of town for about 7 weeks one time, when I got home a few people commented on what a shame about my beautiful car???
I was still so busy I didn't get a chance to go and see what all the fuss was about for about a week... then I went to take a drive, AHHHHHH...my poor baby...what have they done to you...LOL!
I found out from my insurance company it was probaby a made to order hiest by PRO's, they spotted me, and waited to get the wheel's, they recked the body doing it too!
Here a few pic's from when I got it, a good shot of my EX and the pretty Ferrari and finally the damage that was done!
Hope you enjoy...kinda!

your brakes rotors.. the round metal thing your brake pads make contact with so you can stop and stuff:p

in the pic they look pretty nasty with surface rust.. that only happens if it comes into direct contact with something wet.... like rain or mebbe even pee.(if someone wants to be that evil).

I also love what you have done with your xB. My friend would be so disappointed to see yours. His was tricked out also. But unfortunately, he was on his way home from class one day, when all of the sudden his oil filter came off and blew the motor. The bright side is that it wasn't his fault. It was a local instant oil change place in town that changed his oil the day before.

But, I am sad to say he traded his xB in for a 2006 Subaru Impreza Wagon, yes thats right— none turbo.

True, chrome wheels and custom grills aren't very necessary. I don't know, to each their own. What you think doesn't look good someone else thinks it does. Maybe they're attempting to compensate for a certain shortcoming or whatever. :p

Have you seen the sort of traffic that goes down 95 a day in places like Miami, Daytona, Jacksonville? Hell, I go eighty and I feel as if I'm going to be run over by them. Escalades do do high speed driving, though I'll admit, I would be quite afraid to do drifting in an Escalade.

I am planning on going and tinting and I think I'm gonna lower it also. I'll probably end up making just some subtle modifications, nothing too big. The iPod adapter is pretty cool, though I wish that I could adjust tracks with the steering wheel controls. I'm no a memeber of ScionLife.com, but I do dabble a bit on the YourscionTC forums here and there. I just bought my Scion a few weeks back. Well then the wife decided at 27 she is too old for our minivan, lol. So, we just picked up a CX-7. Pretty nice car, turbo, 6 speed auto, sport shift, 18" wheels. Now I just need to buy another mac to get another Apple sticker. :D

I actually like that new CX-7. It is a very cool looking car. Is the turbo audible or to they suppress its noise as much as possible. I remember my mom's saab 9000 turbo you could really hear but with some new cars you can hardly hear it.

To the new owner of the Jetta, all I can say is good luck.

My mom's year old Touareg with 18,000 miles is going in for a crunching noise when it turns (it happened before on the other side- a CV joint or something) , door seal hanging out of the car, burnt out tail light, and burnt out license plate light (for about the 9th time- yeah, go ahead and chage $25 to replace it). Good thing the car is under warranty.

Watch out for your oil changes too, my uncle has a passat and it costs him about $65 at the dealer. Our car is $75 and an oil changing place that uses the proper Castrol oil & filters, but its like $85 or $80 at the dealer. And they make the car so that you cannot change the oil yourself unless you have a way of lifting the car off the ground 4 ft.

Got it about 2 weeks ago. I just ordered a Kenwood DPX-701 receiver plus an iPod adapter for it.

NICE Jetta! Man, I love those. I was looking at them at a dealership a while back and they are so nice. The interiors are just incredible. Some of the nicest I've seen.

I'd like to get me an older GTI VR6 for my next car.

Gosh that's beautiful, but such a dark car in Fort Myers. :(

It's actually not as dark as it looks in the picture...it's kind of an odd color. Depending on what the light is like, sometimes it looks grayish, sometimes more blue-green.

I really wanted a different color, but the cars at the dealership that had the colors I liked were on average $5000 more each.

No, they really didn't have many to choose from at the dealership (actually two of the cars I looked at that I really liked were manual transmission, but they were each loaded with sport-packages and things that brought the price up too high :( ). It does have the TipTronic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiptronic) built into it, though.

The turbo is actually pretty quiet. I kind of like to hear a turbo spool up, but you cannot on this one. It runs really strong, so far I am very happy. The wind noise could be a little more surpressed, but otherwise everything is great.

Ahh, what a shame about the turbo. My with my moms old saab I remember you could hear the whine of the turbo without having to listen for it. I drove my uncles passat (2002 1.8 turbo) and you could hear the turbo but it wasn't as pronounced. It had some turbo lag too- it was like you would accelerate, hit 3000rpm and then the turbo would kick in and you would zoom off. That plus wearing soccer cleats made it very weird to drive.

To MattG- your jetta is the same color as my mom's touareg I think.

your mom should get the t-reg VAG'd and tell the techs you want to see if its throwing any codes..

and about changing oil.. its soooo easy to change the oil on all generations of vws and audis... it takes 10 minutes max.. and the only reason why it takes 10 minutes is because you gotta drain out the oil via gravity. changing oil is a driveway job.. actually a lot of what you said costs a lot of money if it werent for volkswagens warrenty are all driveway jobs. pick up a bentley manual for your dubs and you're good to go.. :D

Yea its easy once you take some giant plastic shield off of the bottom of the car and then something oil pan. Basically they make it so that unless you have a lift to get your car off the ground you cannot easily change the oil thus forcing you to go to the dealer. VW used to take the giant plate off the the bottom of the car and then drain the oil. Later on they realized every time they took of the plate it wouldn't stay on as tight so they would syphon the gas out. Then they realized that wasn't a good idea cause they don't get all the oil out nor do they get out all the grudgy crap at the bottom. So now they are back to taking the plate off of the car. I don't know what this plate does, its not like a skip plate cause its plastic but apparently it has to go on there for some reason.

My dad does it in our Discovery and Grand Cherokee with no problems. My grandma's cutlass requires those things you drive up on to get more ground clearance and elbow room.

The Touareg has been nothing but trouble- CV joint, some air suspension part, CD player, a window, trunk latch x2, lights... I could probably go on.

A guy at my dads work has the V6 version with 20,000 miles on it and his only major problem on it has been that after 5,000 miles his tires were worn down to needing replacement. He got new tires but has to sort out the tire warranty with the noncooperative nonmajor tire company.

VR6! NICE! As I mentioned earlier, I'm on the lookout for a Mk III GTI VR6, myself. If the right Jetta VR6 came along, though, that'd be cool. I like 'em both.
