I can tell from shine/reflection and the tire gloss on the Vette. Sexy!

Thanks, here are some more cool ones of the Altima.

This one really captures the nice mix of Zaino, Claybar, and Ice on the Vette.

I got the Vette back in early November, and it was originally white, but I had it repainted black, and I treat the car and the paint like it's a god.

@leftfoot: Why not a sedan G35 for about the same price as the SE-R? Same company :D

I've heard great things about Zaino but need to get rid of the current wax I have (Meguiars NXT). How is ICE? Heard great things about that too.

Lol, your not the only one to have suggested a g35 instead.

g35 = I see one everyday, good car, but too common

SE-R= In the last 1.5 years, I have only seen 2 other SE-R's, and I live in a city with a population of 1.3 million. Not a common car, I have 1 of 255 black 2005 models.

And I am whipping the droll of my chin now... Have always wanted the 99-2004 Corvette.... oh the sound it makes with exhaust especially the zo6... so jealous...

Any body a mechanic out there want to swap out my v6 mustang engine and drop a GT engine in it? anyone?

They still look awesome today! Any work you have to do on it, or is everything pretty alright?

Here's mine... my parents bought it for me back in August. I turn 16 on the 24th of this month :). Anyway, it's a 1999 V8 Firebird with a t-roof (semi-convertible), had 18k miles on it. It has XM and everything. I like it... the only thing that I was disappointed about was that it wasn't fully-convertible. Oh well... you win some, you lose some.

I'll be able to drive it on my own in July, thank God.

Consider yourself lucky! First car I drove was a 10 year old 1993 Civic DX Sedan. To get a red sports car at 16 is great. I wonder how much insurance is...anyways, congrats!

Gee my first car was a little 2001 Hyundai Accent and my second car isn't much of an upgrade - a Toyota Yaris. I'm sure you will enjoy it though. I'm a little disappointed that my car doesn't have the audio controls on the wheel but considering its a gift I'm not complaining!

nah, it's all pretty much perfect. i love the thing - 200bhp (a whole lot less than my previous car), but it's so light, and so well balanced, it's far more funner™ to drive. The USA is odd when it comes to cars and young drivers. Plenty of young people drive cars with HUGE V8s, like most American cars however, that Firebird will go like a bat out of hell in a straight line, but won't stand a chance against your corsa in the bends . Its not quite the same as a high performance European car. And those Pontiacs aren't that expensive either.

Insurance is VERY expensive here especially if you are a younger driver! I think they are/or have banned under 25's owning or driving a V8 car I'm not sure which one. My new one is a V4 again but I don't mind! It looks pretty anyway :D

That's of course before GM started to test their cars around Nurburgring. That started with the CTS. Of course Hammond almost died seeing the CTS go around a corner without problem! :p The Z06 went around Nurburgring, the HHR SS is currently going around it. Looks like GM got the message that their cars( besides Opels/Vauhauls) can't go around a corner.

And pretty much anything over 6 cylinder is in V or W form. The engine would be too long if it was an inline.

How about that Chevy Volt? Giving you 150 MPG using E85 and roughly 525 MPG using regular gas. Beat that Toyota! :p

Talking about Toyota, how about that new Tundra! Where panel gaps means you're rugged! Sorry, but Toyota's PR made me crack up when I read that part. Not to mention it looks like 3 groups developed the truck. One team worked on the front, another worked on the side and another worked on the back. Then smashed them together and you have the new Toyota Tundra. With its ugly looks and rugged panel gaps. I mean in their respective views the truck looks decent. But, when you mix two of the views together, it just looks unproportional( god I can't spell tonight and spell checker isn't giving me anything lol ) and ugly.

Does the price of it really matter? The model we bought was around $17k. Although it wasn't expensive or anything, it certainly was a bit of a sacrifice for my dad.

On a side note (and a bit of a random note, at that)... I was talking to some friends today about my car and mentioned that I would have rather had a Firebird convertible as opposed to the T-roof. Then they all agreed that convertibles are for girls, homosexuals and old men... not for young, straight guys. Sounded a it stereotypical to me. True?

I dont think he was meaning it to say oh look that car doesn't mean anything because they aren't that expensive. I think he was trying to say that insurance is not gonna be some out of the world price like a poster was saying. Since the car isn't 80 grand plus a huge v8 then the insurance isn't going to be great but it isn't going to be as bad as the poster made it seem.

There's no reason why it isn't possible. Its a nice and compact configuration. But I'm guessing its more expensive to manufacture. Seeing as a 2.0 straight 4 isn't all that huge most car manufacturers don't bother. I believe there are quite a few motorcycles with V4 engines though, even V2!

My .02. Correct me if I'm wrong but I could swear that older Saab's had a V4. Sorry I can't come up with the year but they were very early examples, maybe 60 or 70's models. Additionally, if memory serves, they were two strokes as I remember adding oil to the fuel.

My .02. Correct me if I'm wrong but I could swear that older Saab's had a V4. Sorry I can't come up with the year but they were very early examples, maybe 60 or 70's models. Additionally, if memory serves, they were two strokes as I remember adding oil to the fuel.

I think I deserve a "cookie" for that:D Cheers

Some of the older SAABs (95s and 96s) had a V4 which they called a V8/2

I'm not sure, I think it was another engine cut in half, hence the /2, but I can't remember what it came from.

Hi fellow forum '02er! I've got a 1974 2002 myself... currently "in storage" because I fried the starter and it needs a head job. Some time this spring I will get it in working order again and it will be an occasional driver for around the town.

Otherwise I drive an '07 Prius. A damn fine car if you ask my opinion. Beyond the hybrid-hype, it is a well appointed, comfortable, quiet car with Toyota quality and reliability. Well worth the money.

It's pretty obvious you guys don't get how the Volt works then. The engine doesn't power the car. Electric motors does. That is powered by batteries that can last about 40 miles. Then the ICE turns on and turns a generator continuing to power the vehicle and recharges the battery. The ICE never powers the wheels. Then when you go home, can plug it into your outlet to continue to recharge it. I am only quoting what GM said. So I am not just making the numbers up. It's hypothetical of course, but if you drive those distances it is technically what you would get.

Holy crap, what kind of numbers is it pushing? Isn't it the same engine as a 300zx?

No the 300zx engine is the Vg30dett, and it simply wouldn't fit in this car. This year maxima/Infiniti is the VQ30de. It dyno'd 380 to the wheels which is about 420 horsepower at the crank. so basically I've got a bit more power than a current corvette...NOT a z06 model though.

Not quite. Most asian countries drive on the left too!

Actually, as far as I know somewhere around the time of napoleon they switched from the left side to the right side of the road. For whatever reason the UK was the only european country not to change. The american settlers just took the standard european rules over to the US.

Haha sweet, yes it's a very rare color that's for sure.

This one's a 97 and just hit 114k miles, and I've only had it in the shop once to replace something I already knew about (control arms and tie rods) which I could have done myself, but I hate messing with bushings and press tools.

Everything else I've done myself, the brakes were especially cheap - cross drilled rotors front/rear for $280ish?! I hope you didn't get too ripped off! It's also really easy to do.

Hm, I think I have a list of the stuff I've done on it so far..
Intrax ARS coilovers / Koni shocks - height/rebound adjustable
Motorsport x-brace
18" Hamann HM2s
UUC carbon fiber spoiler
OEM clears - turn signals, side markers, tails
ZKW Ellipsoid headlights
Catz 6000k HIDs
CCFL DDEs
ZKW Fog lights, Lamin-X Blue protective covers
UUC twin silencer exhaust
Conforti software
CAI / heat shield

maintenance - done at home unless otherwise noted
radiator
radiator hoses (samco sport silicone racing) $220, wtf?
thermostat housing
thermostat - 80 degree (lower temp activating)
coolant temp sensor - 80/88 degree (lower temp activating)
spal 2200CFM electric radiator fan - took off clutch fan (can seize up and destroy everything)
relays, wiring, switches, etc for fan delete
waterpump
idler, tensioner, ac pulleys
crank, ac belts
zimmerman x-drilled front/rear rotors
exhaust hangar, brackets, muffler hangars, etc
fuel filter, cabin particulate filter
brake light switch
rear shock mounts - E46 M3
redline synthetic differential, transmission, power steering fluids

shop work:
replace control arms (euro motorsport) - upper, lower, subframe bushings (why I didn't do it)
replace guibo / flex disk
replace front sway bar end links
replace right/left tie rod assemblies
mount / balance 4 tires
4 wheel alignment
~$1550 (why i don't go to shops for work..)
BF Goodrich g-force g-sports 245/45/18 all around (AA ultra performance summer tires with a 340 treadwear? damn good deal if you ask me - $520.)

I took out the idle control valve (ICV) last night and spent ~20 minutes cleaning it out, the car starts, and idles, and revs up / spins down to idle 10 times better, especially in the cold! ..also cleaned the throttle body while i was in there and it seems to breathe MUCH better now, broke the tires loose through 1st and into 2nd when I went for a test haha.

There's a lot of random things about that car - from "brake light circuit failure" on the OBC, to the ABS light, um.. dead pixels/buttons on the OBC, weird climate control / radio things - usually theres a stupid little fix that could save you hundreds for the things mentioned above, they're all mileage related so like I said, let me know if you have a question about something! For the money, the car is a stunning deal - kills most of the new little sport compacts like the S2000, RX8, WRX, etc.. for cheaper, while being designed more than 15 years ago (came out in 92 in Europe.) That's some crazy engineering if you ask me. :) I also dynoed my car a while back and it put down 265hp, 268b-ft torque to the crank (most of the torque was available under 2700rpm, redlines at 7200 with the chip.) Those are pretty standard numbers with basic mods, if you were looking to get a chip / intake / exhaust.

You can get a Brabus styling kit for the Smart ForTwo, but as far as performance goes, the standard car is pretty much a lost cause. Its handles terribly and has a tiny 3 cylinder engine. Nonetheless, I couldn't think of a better city car than the smart!

I understand that the Smart ForTwo coming to the US is going to be a bit bigger, as in longer. Not sure about the engine being larger too. I've checked out some Smart forums and it seems that you can "remap" it and gain some hp and there are some other parts available. Mostly "plumbing" to let it breath a bit easier. These guys are saying 100 to 130 hp. Might be pretty neat in such a small car. Still looks neat, especially the Barbus edition. Cheers

As far as SUVs go the Navigator is pretty sucky. Its impressive and I personally find it the best looking American SUV. But nothing can beat any of the Eurpean SUVs. Range Rover, BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne (wins the ugly-prize). All considerably better than any american SUV! But also a lot more expensive. Fit and finish is terrible, it handles awfully, its , the chassis (isn't practically stone-age), it doesn't work off-road. But like I said, it is appealing in a certain sense, just like a Hummer H2 (which is also a terrible car). Makes you feel like a little kid :-)

Range Rover sets the standard as far as SUVs go. Nothing is better off-road, has a better interior, or a better finish. The Range Rover Sport is even cooler!

Well, I like it, although it is a bit wide. I've seen the inside of a Range Rover, they are nice, but too boxy looking to me. Hummers are all looks. My dad owned a black two thousand-something H2 (I guess my parents prefer black), it was rough, and not what he thought. Now, he owns a GMC truck.

I see where you come from in the fact that it doesn't work off-road, but I don't usually see much luxury-seekers like my mom going off-road. But, if I witnessed my mom go off-roading in her Navigator, I might not ever stop laughing. It just doesn't seem her to crank it up to 4x4 and going off-road :p

But, if you like the looks of it, the Escalade and the H2. They're really no point in arguing with you. What you think is awesome, I think is garbage and vice-versa.

I hated them myself until my mom bought a red 2000 model when it turned out to be better than her 2004 Tahoe which even had a DVD player. As of now, I can't stand the low-end GM companies.

In my opinion, it is above average (excellent)...eh..I don't know about inspiring...not boring because it's got power features and a DVD player!

OK well I don't know what "meh" means, but for 60K this thing is awesome! But you are right, I haven't seen many at all. Actually our local dealership has only sold 1 2007 model since they released, and I haven't seen it anywhere. But, the reasons why I like my mom's Navigator is because...

DVD player
Heated/cooled front seats
Power running boards/liftgate/3rd row seats
Moonroof

I hope she gets an Escalade next. I do NOT like the looks of the 2007 Lincolns. Although, she has told me she'll look into an Escalade. I thought she was getting a Porsche Cayenne or some BMW but I figured out she doesn't like the "round" SUV's , just like me.

mfacey, what's sucky about the Navigator? And also....those SUV's are actually in my opinion...ugly. Especially the Rovers. I hate those.

Yea Navigators are are meh to me to. Underneath it all they are just an expedition. Additionally, its hardly an SUV with its 2" of ground clearance. You can't beat the American interior build quality... I personally would take a rover over an lincoln any day except if I had to pay for its repairs. Range Rover's aren't that great off road though, 19" wheels are stock with low profile tires... not the best for driving in sand or mud or generally off road. The best rovers are the Series models, Range Rover Classics and Discoveries, especially discovery 1.

I love my dads 2003 discovery. I might get it but my parents are looking to get a me a previous generation low milage Grand Cherokee.

I still don't see why people call Navigator garbage. No, they aren't made for off-road since they're luxury SUV's...I would say the Expedition would be more off-roadish. But as for RR, I personally hate Strange Rovers .

I wouldn't call it that luxurious. Cheap leather, cheap interior. Its more "Gimicky" with power running boards for people that can't can't make the 3" step into the car and power liftgate for people that can't pull a handle. Performance wise it drives like a truck I would guess, cause its built on the chasis of one.

Design wise the navigator is wayyyy to chunky. I've been in Navigators and Expeditions. I have found that they are massive on the outside, but on the inside you would expect more room. Look at the front end of your Navigator. Between the grill and the radiator there is like 1ft of nothing. I always thought Lincolns had hideous wheels too.

BTW I wouldn't go with a Cayenne. Their interiors suck. My mom has the Touareg which has the same frame and much better interior. The Cayennes have better engines available like the turbo but unless you are racing your 6000lb suv you won't be needing it. Same with the Audi q7. I think the interior is blah but it does offer the 3rd row seating which makes it a good option. No one except VW offers the V10 TDI though :) :).

The point of an SUV is to be more capable than sedans and vans and wagons. Real Luxury SUVs include Land Rovers, Lexus GX and LX, Toyota Land Cruiser, Touareg,, G500, etc. They have the ability to be luxurious and be capable off road. Cars like X5, M-Class, with AWD and no low range 4wd and basically giant station wagons. Chunky cars with no ground clearance are like giant minivans with poor gas mileage.

And what makes range/land rovers strange?

I agree the 2007 are ugly. But the dealer probably has only sold one cause they just came out.

I can name two cars that are better and more RELIABLE off-roaders, Pajero and Land Cruiser. Land Rover is over rated, considering it's price and lack of quality it pretty much is a waste of money unless you like your weekly trips to dealerships resolving various problems. On paper Land Rover does look like a winner and it has a rich history but when talking about real off-roaders, todays Land Rover/Range Rover is definately not what it used to be or stand for.

Besides, the term SUV has been abused here in USA, Sports Utility Vehicle, was used to desribe off-road vehicles, 90% of so called SUVs (cars such as Navigator, Tahoe, X3 etc etc.) would get stuck in the first 2 inches of mud. To me those cars are just enlarged and heightened vans. Good job to marketing departments though.

Don't get me started with my Land Rover reliability rant. Yes, the are horrible, but you can't blame them, they are british. I would say they are a lot more capable (with appropriate tires) than most stock SUVs (with appropriate tires. Land Rover actually offers center locking and rear locking differentials. Jeep's Quadra-Drive and the 4WD in the G-500/G55 offer front, center, and rear locking differentails which is ideal for offroading. The BMW X5 offers down hill decent control but has no low range 4wd like many luxo SUVs.

Land rover also allows the driver to change the engine response sensitivity- less sensitive for off road driving thus more control. Additionally, the Air-Suspension in rovers have like 5" of variability in the LR3/P38 Range Rover/Range Rover Sport. The air suspension in competators has like 2" of variability.

Again, I am not knocking capabilities of such Land Rovers as the mighty Defender but the current crop such as LR3 have all the electronic gadetry but they are HEAVY vehicles. The current LR3 is about 1000 pounds heavier than the newest Pajero, you can have the best electronics on the plante but weight is the enemy here especially when it comes to mud and approach angles.

That is a good point, if I remember correctly the LR3 V8 is 5880 pounds or so. Land Rover Defender is a great vehicle, my neighbor has one, its too bad they aren't sold in america any more- when they did they cost 70,000 I think, and to pick up a 1997 (last year sold in US) they will cost around 40k. In Europe you can buy them for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy less. Its too bad you can't import them.

They don't sell Pajeros in the US do they? I know there are monteros. I remember CR saying they are incredibly unsafe.

Mitsubishi adressed the problem with upgrading the traction and stability control (M-ASTC) but it was more of a freak accident during the questionable CR report (which recently even admitted flaws in conducting child seat studies which is not the first case of such admittance http://www.care2.com/news/member/410698035/277049 , long time ago they bashed Suzuki Samurai for being "turnable" and then few years later admitted that basically the people who were responsible for the test were not performing the standard routines but really some hard core driving that would turn over most other vehicles).

I don't really like Consumer Reports. They are totally biased. I just remember them saying that they wouldn't test either the Montero or Montero Sport on a track because it was too unsafe.

10 years ago i accompnied my parents to the range rover dealership to testdrive, and despite their brand's reputation for luxury and prestige, when i felt underneath the glovebox it was all cardboard!! any car that costs 70k+ should have no cardboard assembly, period. my parents ended up buying a german SUV that was low maintenance and easy to drive.

It's pretty clean. Since this picture I put a power commander on it, plus a Scorpion carbon pipe and had it dyno'd and remapped.
A couple of more carbon pieces but it has enough power as she sits. I recently ordered an extra seat in white and blue with a GSXR logo on it but that's just for "pimp'n"!

This is from the Thursday after thanksgiving. My car is the red one. About 1 hour later I put my car into a curb and had to do some repairs on it.

It is taken after a snow storm hit Lubbock after thanksgiving. The snow is at least 3 inches deep all around most of it being 4 inches and the stuff on the trunk was over 1 foot think.

im surprised that bimmers have cardboard floors, tho i have the same in my acura trunk - but at least the trunk is rarely seen or felt, whereas the glovebox is always within arm's reach.

to be fair, my uncle has a 2007 range rover and it doesnt have the cardboard underneath the glovebox - but ever since the ownership of the flailing range rover brand changed a couple of times has the quality of their SUVs risen, so it's unfair to compare the two.

I've seen the Touareg, they're very nice.

The "Strange" part of my "funny" joke doesn't really mean anything. I like them fine I guess (after thinking about them), especially the back row and its windows :D . To me, I just don't like the boxy-looking cars.

Well first off I doubt that thing was 60k and if you actually did spend that much you got ripped off and if somehow that was a good deal I would never spend 60k on that.

1. I can upload a picture of the window sticker.

2. Lol, it's not mine like I said. It's my mom's.

3. The MSRP is 60k, but with my mom's trade in, plus some E-price Lincoln gave her, it was lowered down into the low 40k's. And she does admit sometimes it's not what she payed for :(

The 2007 Navigators are one of the ugliest...things...I have seen. I may like Navigators, but for the 2007 models, it's got too much chrome and it looks bigger than ever, not to mention the upcoming Navigator L. And ever since we drove by the dealership to take my nephew home once, they have been trying to get my mom to get a 2007 Navigator, when she just bought hers in August '06.

Well there is a difference between a Range Rover and a Land Rover. Range Rover's don't have the stepped roof with the "strange" windows. LR3s and Discoveries do. Inside though its quite nice. Having 2 sunroofs, alpine windows, and big windows really opens up the interior. The LR3 is awesome with the panoramic roof.

The VW although somewhat feminine is such a nice car to drive. Its very car like although it does stop like an SUV. There isn't a rattle, creak, or vibration anywhere. Excellent interior build quality although its reliabilty has been horrendous. I would say the Touareg has one of the best interiors of any SUV aside from the Range Rover.

Last time I was at the rover dealership, was... a couple weeks ago and they didn't have any. I think the LR2 will do a good job to compete with the lexus RX and Acura RDX. I wonder if the Freelanders are reliable. All I know is that they weren't that nice of cars. We had them as loaner/curtesty cars a couple times and my mom referred to them as "the mistake". The LR2 interior looks well improved over the freelander and the exterior looks a lot better.

To classof2011. First sit in the drivers seat so you know what its like to drive a land rover- amazing visibility everywhere. the side windows go like almost down to like your legs almost. The windshield is flat with very little angle and the hood slopes down quickly. Its quite empowering. Then sit in the passenger seat, its the same deal. The second row isn't too interesting, but its a tad higher than the driver & passenger seating so you can kinda see over them and again there are really big side windows. The third row is where its cool, there is enough foot room and a foot well to make it comfortable for me (5'11"), its higher than the 1st and 2nd rows so you can still see out the windshield, you have huge windows on the side and because of the stepped roof line you get plenty of head room. What ties all this openess together though are the sunroof and the 2 other sunroofs (they don't open unfortunately) for the 2nd and 3rd row. Its really cool.

I saw a 2004 model at my parent's business and I loved the 3rd row windows. But now since they're all one piece, it looks even better! I'd like all the windows and the 2nd-3rd row moonroofs. Are they able to be built with DVD players? We use that a LOT in my mom's Navigator since we're always baby-sitting my nephew, her grandson. I think she likes the big SUV's since they have so much room, so she may actually look into an LR3.

LOL; that reminds me of a story too. My mom had a 2004 Tahoe before her first Navigator (not her black 06) and of course it had Onstar. She didn't know about the integrated telephone although I sent every contact on her phone a text message with her Onstar phone number...and one day we were heading out to town during the summer and my dad called and he just happened to call when the radio station accepted a call. My mom was like "That sounds like your father!" and he was trying to talk to her and she says "Is he sending a shout out?"...he answered "No, I'm not shouting" and she was so scared because she didn't know how he was talking to her...LOL...

haha same with my grandpa when he bought his suburban(it was a 2002 and i was with him for the purchase) the guy that sold it to him had a new zelandish accent( i dont why i put that part in but whatever...now replaced by his mercedes GL450) and i know how the onstar system works and somehow he just put his nokia phone(no bluetooth) into his vertical charging cradle... and my dad calls his cell phone and the salesman was freaked out because i guess he didnt know that the car could do that and the salesman was saying i guess new zelandish ways of cursing..(i dont mean to be offensive by mentioning the new zelander)

When my sister was on a training day playing with the new Lexus LS, they were driving alongside another LS and the bluetooth link started ringing. The guy in the car alongside had been driving their car earlier in the day and had set his phone up, so when he got called it went through to the wrong car.

Well that's the rumor going around that they won the bidding for Aston Martin.

The Acadia is on a new platform called Lambda. The Equinox is on the much shorter Theta platform( shared with the Vue and the Torrent). The Acadia is around Trailblazer to Tahoe size. It can carry 7-8 passengers. Now with the demise of the GMT-360's( Trailblazer and its rebadges) it is rumored that Chevy will get a Lambda to replace the Trailblazer.

Have you seen GM's latest interiors? The Aura's, the new Malibu's, the new GMT-900's( Tahoe, Silverado, etc)? While I haven't been in the new Malibu yet( it was on a platform at my car show) I own an Aura XR. The materials used in the vehicle overall are pretty decent for the class. It has its cheap areas though. The door armrests is the cheapest thing in the interior. And the bottom part of the dash is a bit cheap and uses hard plastics. The upper part though uses soft materials. Overall though it is a huge improvement compared to old interiors GM used to have. The SUV's and trucks while use harder plastics( well there trucks, not freaking luxury vehicles) they do use a nice grain plastic. I compared the Camry's interior with the Aura's when I went to the DC auto show. Overall, the Aura's interior is just as good as the Camry's. The Camry's interior has its cheap spots as well, but overall same level as Aura.

Yeah. I drove a new Aura top of line model there, forget the alphanumeric designation... But anywho, it was a nice car. It felt light years above any recent GM product I've driven, and the quality of materials was great for the price.

Design wise, the products aren't too much of a mess either. They've cleaned up the sheet metal a lot, and the details have been much improved. I generally like the curves and creases on these models, especially the new SUV's and pickups.

I very very nearly bought an NSX, but I wanted a 3.2 not the earlier 3.0. Couldn't find one for the right cash (more importantly the cash I had !)

Ended up buying a Merc C-class AMG. Still 3.2 liters but supercharged. Practical and powerful (350bhp) and sneeky. No badges, no hint of any hidden power. 0-60 in 4.6

Very nice shape for the age. A little over done on the interior shine maybe... but if you like that look!

I am however adding to global warming with it. Doesn't really do much more than 18MPG (UK gallons) on my commute.
Still it's great, plant foot firmly on floor from a stop and it takes care of the rest, needs very little skill from me to rocket away.... maybe an armful of opposite lock if you're not careful when coming out of low speed bends even in the dry.

Traction control off is interesting, and not really something I'd want to repeat ! Lesson learnt

At least you can make a run to the hardware store and come home with more than a box of screws. The list of things that don't fit in an NSX is endless. :)

I wish Mercedes would sell their whole line of cars in the USA. You almost never see any of their hatches or wagons here. I know a guy with an SLK32 - same engine as in your car - and that thing hauls balls.

It's so clean! ..that's it I'm building a garage in the middle of my driveway. No, better yet, the driveway will be a garage.

My car is so dirty after all of this snow.. and it's too cold to clean it off.

Well I did have it in a garage while it stormed. I had to back it out to get the snow blower out. Well, the tires aren't all season tires and are performance touring tires so they weren't meant to get traction on the snow/ice. To get a long story short, it got stuck in the snow. Front wheels kept on spinning and traction control engaging made it fun. Snow blowed and shoveled a path for the Aura and I eventually got it back into the garage. So pretty much the Aura is snowed in every time it snows/ before driveway gets cleared unless I feel like buying another set of winter tires.

PS: The last time I got it cleaned was back in the beginning of January. I keep my precious( it is my first car) clean. Now for the Equinox and Suburban..... Well...... the Equinox is filthy. Well, we had a casualty on the Suburban. When the plows came by and plowed out street it made a mountain of snow/ice which froze. Well my dad thought that a 5700 lb vehicle would just plow through it( I knew it wouldn't. I mean the snow could support the Suburbans weight). Anyway, it didn't and went over it. Well, my dad took out the fog lamps. So we will be buying 2 new fog lamps. :(

PSS: The only thing that guy did dangerously was to take his eye off the road to take a pic of the speedometer when going that fast. Of course I am assuming when he did go that speed it was a safe area to do so while there were no cars, pedestrians, or anything that could of made him lose control of the car( like a deer jumping out in front of him). I mean what is the use of a sports car( or any car that has good pickup) when you're not going to push it and have a bit of fun. Unless you're one of those Accord/Camry owners who view cars as appliances and only believe a car is to get you from point A to B. :p

Really nice looking car, I'm looking forward to seeing more shots from all angles. Is the car new? The colour match on the bumper is horrendous. If it's a used car I'd wager it may have had some work done.

Lovely car! I'm looking at newer models ('03-'04's) to possibly replace my Concorde in a year or so. I do like the older style though, and they still look sweet/drive well considering their age.

At least I am not driving dangerously.

Speed doesn't kill. Driving like a dumbass does. I've gone well over 100 before, and I'm alive. But before I even get up past the speed limit, I make sure that no other cars are in sight, the weather's fine, etc. And when I am going fast, I pay attention and immediately hit the brake and slow down if there's anything that could pose a threat to anyone's safety.

Lastly, before you call people names, how do you even know that this was on public road? He could be on a closed track. Or he could've done what a buddy of mine did and put the car up on jackstands, put it in gear and get on the gas until the speedo reaches 160 and take a picture and tell people it's real :D

Yeah, I'm not real sure what's gained by turning off the TCS at triple digit speeds. I leave mine turned on pretty much all the time. The few times I've turned it off, I've realized it's probably kept my ass on the road more than once without my realizing it.

No, the car is pretty old now so I suspect that either it's been resprayed and some point or the front bumper has change colour slightly over time.

Well. I am getting my license March 15th. Finally :) :).

Before, I was going to get a last generation Grand Cherokee, similar to my sisters. Then after dealing with crooked salesmen at the dealer my parents didn't want to get a Jeep. Then they thought they would give me my Dad's 2003 Discovery II but insurance would be very high for me esp. since they want collision on it and so that was scrapped.

Now I am looking at my neighbors older Discovery. I test drove it yesterday. Its a Discovery I and its a blast to drive- even though its miniscule 183hp 4.0L V8 is vastly underpowered for the 4600lb vehicle it is unique. Very high, great visibility, very utilitarian but comforting in a way. It's Extremely loud as well compared to my dads. The exhaust system is fine, it is quite possibly the loudest car I have ever driven. Once you get going though the engine roar is droned out by the massive amount of wind noise. I know it sounds like I am putting it down, but I really like it.

Its pretty dirty in the pics. Thats from about a month ago. When my dad and I looked at it yesterday it looks like she vacuumed a little but it still needs a detailing. Being a rover, of course it has its share of problems. Rear windows intermittently work along with the rear wiper, she said the check engine light has been coming on lately- it was when we drove it but after it went out, it needs a new antenna ($26 part), it needs new front brakes soon ($160 part), and 2 of power seat switch knobs are missing- not a big problem because they still work but being placed where they are they are prone to damage.

You'd think that being a Luxury Car company, Land Rover would do it's best to keep it quiet on the inside... Or is it just because it's old?

Well, this is the Discovery 1 which was Land Rovers first attempt at a more family oriented and cheaper car than the Range Rover. The engine in it was a 3.5L pushrod v8 designed by buick. Over the years they just kept making it bigger. This one has a 4.0. Overall, all of them from what i have heard are jut loud mechanical sounding vehicles. Its somewhat empowering though. Its not exhaust noise, its just engine noise, its hard to describe. The exhaust system however is strange. The exhaust comes out of the engine it two pipes, each with its own cadilliac (sp?) converter. After the converters the pipes merge to go to one muffler and out to the exhaust. (I think thats how it went, my dad thought it was peculiar)

The lady used to be my neighbor in another neighborhood. When I lived there I remembered it being very loud as well.

4.0L V8 is pretty tiny to me. The vehicle weighs as much as a Suburban except a Suburban has a 5.7L V8. That is 5.7 significantly larger.

The Rover's 0-60 time is 11.2 seconds. While you go lay down count that out. :p ;)

One-Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi...

Go to a used car lot and try one out. Its actually amusing how slow it is, but monstrously loud at the same time. I love it though, I dunno why, it just has a charm to it.

Read any review and I guaranty they will say its underpowered. Unless that review is by a car salesmen that is.

Small correction. GM dumped the 350 Small Block( or 5.7 in these days lol ) in the Suburban back when the GMT-800's debuted. The last 350 was the LS1/LS6 in the Corvette, GTO, and CTS-V. The Suburbans now have a 327( or a 5.3 liter) V8.

PS: Man, I wish we would dump the liters measurement. Calling engines 327 is so much better. :p

Seems odd that at the exposure needed for the inside of the car, the outside view isn't blurred, given the speedo says 100 mph!

Regardless, 4.0L is a pretty small 8cyl engine, especially if it has to push a 4600lb vehicle.

The roof was off the car that day, so it was as bright inside as it was outside.

But the most telling evidence is that if I'd Photoshopped that picture, I would have made myself going a lot faster than 105! :)

A)take the huge image out of your quote

B) it looks like a very bright day, thus the shutter speed would be very high-eliminating the blur. I've taken pictures out my window while going about 90 and they were nice and clear- not to mention stopping helicopter blades etc. Who uses film anymore?
