Nintendo 64 games on a Mac? Can I use N64 controllers?

I just downloaded an emulator for N64 for the Mac, and I've found tons of roms that I can play.

So does anyone know if there's anywhere I can buy an N64 controller that can work with my Mac? Maybe a USB one?
 
i know on ebay i saw a load of usb adapters for pcs..

i presume that they'd work fine on a mac, as they just show up as a general controller. i couldnt believe it when i got a usb/playstation 2 adapter for £10, and it actually worked! WITH VIBRATION!

Cool, I looked on eBay and also found a ton. Is there only one kind out there? The one I found on eBay is kinda ugly. I'd buy it anyways, but just wondering if theres a better one out there.
 
Yeah, my USB-PS2 adapter (heh, the console, not the bus!) works fine with my Mac. I'd hazard a guess that N64 ones use a similar, derivative, or family member chipset, though it's always better to ask.
EBay is actually really handy for this kind of thing, cables and stuff. One of the few things I use it for now.

Thanks, I'll probably grab one of those off ebay.

Also, does anyone know of a good emulator? The one I've been using doesn't go full screen 🙁

That's why the bus is PS/2 and the console is PS2... but people still get confused when I say them. 😀
 
Does anyone know of any good N64 emulators? I tried mupen64 and sixtyforce. Mupen hardly works at all, and sixtyforce only works in a windowed version.

I'm just wondering if there's alternatives, because I'm not going to get the controller connector if I can't get a better emulator.
 
Watch out.

When you buy the converter make sure it says something about dual axis or something like that. It allows you to hit more than one button at once. This is really important if you are using a DDR pad or a game that requires hitting more than one button at once.

It tells me I have to register. So if I don't want to pay the $15 to register, is there any alternatives?
 
I find that the xbox controller is easy to mod, and feels pretty similar to the N64 controller. Best controller ever, N64 then xbox.
