In the past week or so, I haven't been able to drag and drop in any application, including the finder. This has become quite irksome...is there any preference that might have been changed, or should I just reinstall the OS (I am currently running 10.2.8).

try reparing permissions of course

I think an Archive & Install is in order if permission repair doesn't fix things. I'd wait a day to see if anyone has a better suggestion, but it sounds like something got pretty messed up. Your old prefs, etc. will still be retained in the Previous Systems folder, so you can copy them back should you need to.
I'd make sure you know or can access registration/keys for software that might get lost during the reinstall of Jaguar before going forward - just in case.
