Using Y Power Splitter Cable with iMac and monitor?

Will something like this work with my new May '11 iMac coming soon and my HP 2510i monitor? I'm looking to reduce cable clutter, would this work okay?

And any other suggestions on reducing cable clutter?

The socket type is correct, I'm just less certain that the split is long enough. It looks like that should work though.
