Anyone ever replaced the display inverter in a G4 iBook (12") and have any tips for me. I am planning to dive into this repair this weekend to hopefully fix my mom's laptop. I have the guide from ifixit.com as the go-by. Looks like a pretty involved process.

I've never replaced it myself, but I know how involved it is. Remember where all of the screws go!

Successfully completed the inverter replacement last night, unfortunately it didn't fix the backlight problem :(

Aaaahhhh, I know how you feel, if you can, return the inverter and buy a backlight.

Do you have a good place to get a replacement backlight?

I was thinking of getting new cable: http://www.ifixit.com/iBook-Parts/iBook-G4-12-Inch-800-1-1-2-GHz-Inverter-and-Airport-Cable/IF183-000 and trying that.

Wonder if this one could be the cause as well: http://www.ifixit.com/iBook-Parts/iBook-G4-12-Inch-800-1-1-2-GHz-Display-Data-Cable/IF183-061
