Apple today issued a new software update for the second-generation Apple TV, moving the software version to 4.2.2 as reported by the device. Apple's servers, however, register the update as a new build of iOS 4.3 carrying a build number of 8F305.

There is no word yet on changes included in the update, as Apple has yet to publish documentation on the new version.

A x.x.1 update won't have any new features, just fixes.

Hopefully they fix the issue where waking from sleep it looses it's mind about my computers iTunes library and claims it's empty until I log in/out of the sharing

Hopefully fixes for connecting with iPhone as a remote and the annoying "Netflix is Not Available" and having to back out and go right back in. Drive me CRAY CRAY!

Yup. Hopefully it will fix the homesharing issue that so many are having issues with.

Thanks.. I couldn't come up with the name for the features. It's driving my wife crazy. She says apple is turning into MS... and this bug has been there for a long time!

What's a DVD?

It's that thing you turn into a digital copy for use on your iOS devices.

I don't get it. Why can't they just use the same version of iOS for the Apple TV? Why does it have to always be .1 or so behind? The thing is running on the same exact hardware as other iOS devices...

It would be as if Apple brought out OSX 10.7 for all Macs, but the MacBook gets 10.6.

Still having problems waking from sleep sometimes, so fingers crossed that this will fix it.

Please please please fix the homesharing issue. We have 2 in the house, and they are not very 'wife-friendly'. When I tell her to just log out and back in, I get the 'eye'.

Your asking for a dvd drive in 2011?

You seriously need to learn on how to progress with times.

By the way a dvd drive will nto make it useful. The apps will.

@ HackerJL

I bought the apple tv because the media center I use to have was a constant issue for not being wife friendly.
I thought the apple TV was going to remedy that situation but it did not :(

I get the eye as well.
