Long time reader first time poster...

I am having a slight problem with my 1.2ghz iBook G4. A few days ago the fan, which used to come on once in a blue moon, has started to run constantly. Nothing changed in terms of usage or config.

Is there anything I can do to reclaim my silence?

You could check the Activity Viewer see if theres a process taking up the CPUs time

If your not doing a lot it might be one of the system's tasks that are causing it

Are you running something like Folding or SETI...? That is usually a bad idea on any laptop...

Thanks for the advice.

It seems that I just had too many programs open, even though most of them were just in the background. The problem seems to be under control.

Good to know, for a moment there I was thinking you might have a dirty fan. Then again the iBook is pure silence bliss. :)
