I'm surprised I've never seen Yellow Mug around before. Very handy, though Portraits and Prints has some similar functions.

I wonder how many Mac developers out there publish good apps like these but don't get much publicity?

A few years ago I was disappointed at how few applications there were for Mac OS X and now they're all over the place.

Thanks for the tip!

This was another basic review designed to highlight a developer whose products are good, yet not many Mac users know of them. We've received more hits on that article already today than any other in the history of the site-- except one (Simon Cowell dissing the iPod). Amazing. If anything, it shows that the average Mac user always looks for bargain utilities to perform new tasks. Without basic reviews such as this, many good Mac developers would have difficulty getting proper exposure. One has to be impressed by both the number and quality of Mac utilities these days.

Now, if only there were an easy way to install Spam Assassin on Mac OS X Server.... :D

I tried FileChute but it refused to work with my FTP server. Got a 'curl' error in my Console and no amount of formatting of the URL would get it to work. Oh well, maybe some other time. I'll stick with the Konfabulator FTP Droplet in the mean time.

<sarcasm> Another GREAT article by Tera Patricks'! I'm astounded! </sarcasm>

First, you should report that these programs are SHAREWARE. I hate reading articles about 'Great' software only to find someone wants me to by it (And considering the currency conversion from US to AUS, I'm not going to pay that much.)

Second, I'm not meant to find these pieces of software anyway else, Hmm, lets see....

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13286

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12190

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11268

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11632

Found them quite 'Easy' on MacUpdate.

Finally, I would like to say that I find Mac360 one of the shameful Mac News websites out there, and usually find most articles to be a gimmick or manipulating the truth (Like this article, you're making it sound like no one really knows it exists). PLEASE, if you're going to have a Mac News site, report NEWS, stop ranting or being paid off by developers to do an article on their products.

I'm sure many people would agree with what I've said, as I've seen many complaints about Mac360's reports (Read above), and for those who find them useful, perhaps you should consider some of the links below.

If you want useful Mac related News sites, I suggest the following:

I'm in 100% agreement with you, the whole site has gimmicky news stories that seem to only desire to drive traffic to their site. Also if you were to post anything of the nature you posted above THEY BAN YOU!!!! This is hardly a mac news site. I would advise mac users to stay away from the site. Comments are heavily moderated and anything negative (even if non-offensive) is deleted. And if you repost, they will block your IP address.

I wrote IAWFTPTDTA in my post above… I Am Waiting For Tera Patricks To Defend The Article. As she always does/has to. And for some reason jchen seems to appear around the same time. If jchen wants to thank Tera for the tip my guess is she could do it in person.

Iīll put my hard hat on now…

I Am Waiting For Tera Patricks To Defend The Article. As she always does/has to...

Apparently you don't read too well as she has already posted. I read the article and found it worthwhile, as I was not't aware of those utilities. It seems difficult for some Mac developers to get an audience and posts of updates on Macupdate or Versiontracker don't last long.

Maybe you should explain what you're looking for in a "great" article on MacRumors/MacBytes.

Iīll put my hard hat on now…

Try a condom first, assuming you know where it goes. It must be sad to be all wrapped up in criticism with nowhere to go. <sigh>

Tell me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that MacBytes selects the articles and links. They are not posted by the web site, that is for sure.

Is it just possible that some of the trolls here do not like commentary from a woman? You know, with the tech field being so macho and man-like and all.

:D FWIWD, it is very helpful when a site features Mac software and developers. I was impressed with a couple of the apps I downloaded from Yellow Mug's web site and appreciate the effort, both from the developer and from someone willing to try out and report on the products.

Good for you. Seriously.

I wasnīt expecting an intimate invitation. Silly. *hard hat takes a beating* I was merely saying that Patricks always seems to appear on these boards to defend the articles from her site, and I was waiting for her appearence. For some reason you donīt see many other authors/editors do that.

Donīt know. Some of the articles on mac360 are written by men, arenīt they? And some of the critics may be female, no?

I don't think that most people's opinions on this site reflect on the fact that Tera Patricks is a woman (at least not for me), but the simple fact that the articles are just awful.

I want a Mac news site that has news, not gimmicks and ads.

I can understand that Ms. Patricks does not want to defend herself in the matter, as it would only fuel the fire, however, I still think that the site needs improvements, big ones.
