A guy called Amit Singh had an awesome website called kernelthread.com, but he has moved a lot of that info to a book. The companion site to the book is http://osxbook.com/. It may have some information that you can use.

That book is the defacto standard on OSX internals. I've not heard of any other book that goes into such depth as Singh's
