If it does change it will probably be like how mac.com is now. If you were signed up before .Mac became MobileMe, then your email works at me.com and mac.com. So I guess those people will have an email that works at me.com, mac.com and icloud.com, and those with just me.com will gain icloud.com as well.

I'd probably sign up again if I could get another @mac address. I hate @me. @icloud would be an improvement.

I would love to be able to use a custom domain. I'd actually pay extra for that functionality.

@me.com is actually nice since it is short. iCloud makes more sense but it more characters to type. Either way, I hope iCloud brings an easier way to get my old iTunes account (@gmail.com) to merge with my @me.com/@iCloud.com account.

As said above, I think Apple should let users to use their domains as mail address. Who wants @me,@mac or whatsoever instead of @yourname or @yourcompany. I hope they will do that.

I agree with you. I would much rather use my own address.

I must admit, out of @mac and @me, I much preferred the @mac address. I got MobileMe about 6 months before it changed and was glad I did (also meant I got something like 6 months free due to all the faults, etc).

However, I use Google Apps with my own domain and not sure I could go back to not using my own domain now.

If you watched the keynote they are still keeping the @me.com but its now free 5GB. I am guessing if you still want more then 5GB they will have a subscription like the current mobile me for 20GB or more for $XX.XX once that iCloud is formally released with iOS 5.

Because of right now in mobile me service you get

Mail, Contact, Calendar - Free
Gallery - Replaced by Photo Stream
iDisk - Replaced by iCloud

but they are only showing us the free things they will be releasing a paid version of the iCloud that will come with everything just more space for the user.

I just assume that Find my Phone will be a default thing to all mobile me accounts just as an option if you own a iphone pad or touch device which i hope you do if you have @me.com and iCloud.

Hope this clears things up a little for you guys.

It sounds like Apple is going to let us keep .me addresses. Do we know if they will continue supporing the .mac versions of the same addresses?

Yes, they say so on the transition knowledge document:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597

What will happen to the content I have on MobileMe?
Apple has announced a new service called iCloud which will be available this fall and free for iOS 5 and OS X Lion users. When you sign up for iCloud, you'll be able to keep your me.com or mac.com email address and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.

9 to 5 reported their is a leaked MoMe transition document (http://www.9to5mac.com/70980/the-guide-to-migrating-personal-data-from-mobileme-to-icloud/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+9To5Mac-MacAllDay+%289+to+5+Mac+-+Apple+Intelligence%29):

If you click thru to the actual document It is 7 pages step by step instructions (which I'm sure is not the final).

I've seen that - as the commentators are saying in the comments box it is not actually what the article claims it is - it is in fact just a (rather ham fisted) way for devs to duplicate their MobileMe data (excluding mail) over to iCloud beta.

It's certainly not something designed for the end user and there are lots of caveats at the moment - such as you can not use a mobile me account as your ID for iCloud, nor can you use any other valid AppleID which is not in the format of an email address.

Seems like there are still a lot of things to work out regarding migration!
