Apple and Moto should follow Sony Ericsson's lead with their new W800 Walkman phone, packaged so as to be marketed directly at consumers by-passing the carriers altogether .... works with GSM (plug in a sim card from your old phone or buy one from carrier - most will sell you one for $20 or so) although CDMA subscribers are out of luck in this scenario...

"Motorola was not talking about their iTunes phone. It was supposed to be introduced last week at the CeBIT show in Germany – but was pulled at the last minute. The phone can download and play songs from Apple’s iTunes music store. All Motorola will say is that they’ll have a lot more to say as release day gets closer – now set for summer."
Pretty vague...
If I knew the specs and had some indepedant reviews I might wait for this but given it could be August before an announcement and then who knows how long before it appears I think I'll be tempted to go with another isync comptable phone that plays ACC...

Does such a phone exist?
Yes, plenty.
SonyErricson, Nokia for example.
Of course they won't play protected AAC as Apple jealously guards it. they only release this to minor cell phone players such as Motorola who make very crap phones.

Oh yeah. . . duh! <hits forehead>
I guess that's why having iTunes on a phone is big news.

Chicago Tribune (http://www.chicagotribune.com/technology/chi-0503160227mar16,1,3171937.story?coll=chi-technology-hed&ctrack=1&cset=true) reporting that it was Steve Jobs who asked for the iTunes phone to be delayed rather than the carriers
At a briefing during a wireless industry trade show in New Orleans Tuesday, Zander said that Apple CEO Steve Jobs didn't want the phone to be unveiled now because it's not expected to actually hit the market until summer.
Apple typically announces new products right before consumers can buy them, Zander said. Cell phones, on the other hand, are typically unveiled months before they are available, often at big industry trade shows.
I did laugh a little at the second paragraph - tell that to the people who wait months for their new Macs to ship! :p

as much as a cell phone with itunes, or what ever it has built in to it, would be cool, i allready have a ipod...
my next phone is a nokia 9500 communicator, or "the brick", as The Register called it.
but cell phone loyalty is like pcs, so il stop my comment here.
i ust to like motorola, but in most situations, nokia makes a better phone in my opinion.
