I am a complete novice to Mac's so apologies in advance...

I have the chance to buy a Mac Pro 1.1 (I think) for 1,000/$1,600 and don't know if it's worth the money or not. The spec is:

Quad 2.66 core
6GB RAM
1TB Hard Disk
NVidia GForce 7500GT Graphics
Will come with a fresh install of OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Will also come with a couple of monitors

I have big concerns over the graphics card but reading some of the other threads I can update this if necessary.

I won't be using any ultra demanding applications

Any help is appreciated...

What monitors does it come with? First gen Mac Pros aren't really worth more than 1000$ so unless the monitors are really worth the extra 600$, I would try to negotiate a lower price.

It comes with 2x NEC MultiSync 70GX2.

Seemed a good deal to begin with but the more I've dug the less it appears so.

Doesn't looks so great then. Those are 17" monitors and pretty old.

Four years old no less!

Such a shame as a can't find anything decent out there for less than 1000.

I don't have the patience for saving and I'm not a fan of the iMac so will probably look at other machines.

Thanks for the assistance.

I have one more if anyone can help- how do I know it's a 1.1? I was assuming this was the case due to the poor graphics card but then I found this:

http://www.scrumpymacs.co.uk/store/featured/used-intel-mac-pro-xeon-mod2.html

They share a similar video card and spec and it's a later (2007-8?) model. Is the MP via the link equally a rip-off?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAC-PRO-2-X-2-66GHz-Dual-Core-Intel-XEON-Keyboard-etc-/190534641926?pt=UK_Computing_Apple_Desktops_CV&hash=item2c5cbfe906#ht_500wt_982

Take a look at that. A bit over 3 hours left and it's currently at 510. Can easily go for less than 700 if you're lucky. There are many similar deals going on in eBay, even UK ones.

Looks good, your help is really appreciated, could have made a massive foul up there.
