outlook 2007 calendar appointments/events do not sync (holidays and birthdays do)?

I have tried changing settings in itunes and outlook.
General calendar syncs, appointments do not

This issue does not happen with my iphone 3gs as all calendars sync correctly

This is a new problem (a recent sync must have deleted the content).

What to do?
