on my powerbook, i never quite figured out what the f7 button does as well as being a function key. like the brightness, volume, and num lock keys, it also seems to have a second purpose indicated by an icon with two rectangles overlapping one another. anyone know what it does. i press it and it doesn't do anything.

When your PB is connected to an external display, F7 will toggle between mirroring (showing the same thing on the PB and external displays) and extended desktop (showing different portions of a larger desktop on each screen) modes.
