Hi all the friendly folks in the macbook forum enlightened me to buy a MBP instead of upgrading my MB, and I found a steal on ebay for my MBP and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for 8GB RAM. I'm a computer noob so any advice/input is much appreciated. (I know it's all the same but it seems certain companies models fit different macbooks slightly better.)

Anyways thanks!

And by off chance can I upgrade RAM more than 8GB?

Try here

EDIT: no, you cannot upgrade the RAM to more than 8gb

RE-EDIT: Yes you can upgrade RAM to up to 16gb (for the 2011 models ) if you have $1,500+ that is

I went with Crucial. Everything has been good so far. And you can upgrade up to 16 GB in the 2011 MBPs. OWC sells a 16 GB kit for a little over $1000 I believe. Haven't checked in a while though; I could be wrong.

You can take it beyond 8GBs if you have $$$$ in the bank OWC charges $1499 for its 16GB kit.

How large of an application/s would you need to be running to actually need 16 GB RAM? 😕

Just to get that right:

You would pay more for the memory upgrade to 16GB than for the MBP itself 😕
