Hi all,
I love the way the Firefox sidebar shows up all my bookmarks and lets me file and edit bookmarks as I browse — as I'm actually on the page I'm reading —*rather than cumbersomely having to switch into SHOW ALL BOOKMARKS mode like Safari and then switch back just to do a bit of bookmark editing.

Any ideas of another really Firefox like browser that has G5 support?

Firefox still has PowerPC support, you just need to compile it yourself.

Edit: There are probably some builds about on the internet if you spend awhile Googling.

Yeah, I'm using exactly the same hardware and OS as you for web development, and though it's getting a bit aged, still works good - except I now can't use the latest version of Firefox.

There are, of course, lots of other browsers out there, but all of the great plugins for Firefox - notably Firebug - make it indispensable.

Would those plugins and add-ons work in TenFourFox? (Firefox for PPC)?

The future development pathway has changed for Firefox 5, TenFourFox will no longer be using their code for some technical reason I don't quite understand. But they will continue to develop.

And, since we aren't moving to TenFourFox 5, updates will still function properly in the way they are, and the plugin code won't change. So you get to keep plugins after all. I hope you're happy. 😉 My arguments over security still stand, however, and I still strongly recommend something like Flashblock.

Get the latest TenFourFox for G5 here (4.2)

Then check if your favourite add ons and extensions work. I know British/Australian english does not work so far.

Hey, thanks for posting the link to TenFourFox - just installed it and it's MUCH faster than FF3.6, and FireBug seems to work fine.

Awesome! You might want to RSS their blog as i don't think I remember any auto-update warnings.
