Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get a cheap monopod setup. However I want it to have a ballhead and a quick-release plate just like my tripod.

This is my plan:

Canon Monopod 500 w/ mini ballhead

or the Slik Lighty Pod III (w/ ballhead)

Plus the Manfrotto 323 RC2 quick release adapter w/ plate:

Am I right in assuming that either of those monopods will work just fine with the adapter? I want that adapter specifically because it includes and uses the same plate that I already own for my tripod.

Also, is there any reason to pick the Slik over the Canon? The ballhead appears a bit beefier/sturdier but I am really unsure.

Cheers! :)

They all use std screw, so all should work with adapter plate.

fwiw, I bought this monopod from REI in 1999, its really a hiking monopod with a removable ball top for attaching camera.
Measures 51 inches open and 28.5 inches closed; grip length is 8 inches
I've used it countless times indoors where tripod is too clumsy; church/museum/etc.
Great also for shooting video to keep eliminate those shakes/tired arms.
Plus, having a walking/hiking stick is double bonus!
we took it backpacking in 1999 to Isle Royale and the Porcupine Moungtains (both in Michigan's upper peninsula )
