I'm almost positive that the first song is "In My Place", by Coldplay, from the album "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" (track 2)

The second midi sounds like the beginning of "Other Side", by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but since you say it's an electric guitar, I'm not so sure...
