View Full Version : Audio in only one channel

So, my faithful 5th generation iPod "classic", is finally showing its age. A pity, since it is still giving me 10 hours on a full charge.

So, only one of the channels plays, no matter what earphones I use. If i pull out the plug ~3 mm, then i get audio in both channels, but at a lower and distorted quality. So i thought the jack plug was getting worn down, so I ordered and replaced the plug with connectors, but that didn't work unfotunately.

Any suggestions? I don't mind doing a bit of operating with spare parts, as long as they come cheap.

it wont come cheap but you might have to get some dual drive earphones/headphones around 50$ or they might be cheaper on ebay? i just read this article in a magazine called wired.

You're gonna have to get it replaced because the same thing happened to my 6th generation iPod. Although now its skipping tracks and randomly pausing, so I just can't seem to get a break.

So your argument is that I should get a new one, because yours is doing the same? O_o

I'm not arguing. Do what you want.

Wow, nice attitude there. You provide no reason for what you are saying, and then when I ask for a clarification, you act like an ass?

Not sure what you're talking about. My iPod went through the same thing and required repair. Not sure with what you want to here, or why you're getting rild up.

You claim I was arguing when I wasn't - it's your iPod, do what you want.
