Before Lion came around, we could open a document, control-click (or command-click) on the name of the file in the title bar of the document, and we could navigate the entire hierarchy of where that file is located in the Finder. This is incredibly useful. We could even jump directly to the desired location in the Finder right from there.

But now in Lion, Apple has introduced this new version control mechanism in the title bar. Can we no longer navigate the hierarchy of where the file is located anymore?

You still can. Command click to the left of the black triangle. You still get the old style hierarchy.

I was wondering about this too. Thank goodness--I use it all the time!
