That would be so awesome. Especially with the student discount which will hopefully still be $50 and the $100 iTunes gift card.

But I'm not counting on it.

I wouldn't expect Airs to go down with prices... $999 as a entery level price is fine considering Apple marketing is based on being pricy...

I would be surprised if apple drops 100 dollars on 11 inch MBA.

They might cut the price on highest end MBA models, but low end models are...

We will see.

I agree that it would be awesome if the price of the MBA was dropped by $100. But I think it's not likely to happen.

Unless Apple discontinues the polycarbonate MacBook? I could see it happening if they did that.

I could see the base/ultimate 13" drop $100 to bring them in line with the 13" MBP. I recall one story talking about how the 11" is the best seller, Apple might want to pump up sales of the 13".

Would be great to see a price drop of $100. Even better if the base RAM was increased to 4gb. But I think that would be too much to ask for... One can hope though. :)

Makes sense because they are cheaper to make by not including a discrete GPU...

Never was a discrete gpu.

But new gpu is built into cpu this time around instead of the chipset/mb and perhaps that setup is cheaper.

SB bridge cpus in general seem to be quite a bit faster and cheaper than previous gen cpus.

Fair 2011 price:
$999: 11" / 4GB / 64 GB
$1199: 11" / 4 GB / 128 GB
$1299: 13" / 4 GB / 128 GB
$1699: 13" / 8 GB / 256 GB

Student discount should be $100 rather than $50 especially now that the Back to School is only a $100 gift card.

Top 13" will probably cost 1599$ and will have only 4GB. ;)
