I just watched the Incredibles for the first time and had to ask if anyone else thought it seemed based on Watchmen, the graphic novel by Alan Moore? I mean, it was clearly more campy and fun, but the concept and the plot seemed directly drawn from Watchmen.
If you haven't read Watchmen you should, btw, it's probably the best super hero graphic novel/comic ever written!

Umm Never read that but I'm sure The Incredibles took a little bit from every comicbook series. I noticed alot of things that were in other stuff.

The characters were partially influenced by their family roles.
Mr. Incredible - Muscle, Masculinity, etc. Normal "dad" roles.
Elastigirl - "Elastic" Mom. Flexible, does a lot of things around the house.
Violet - Force Field/Invisibility. Teenage struggles with fitting in.
Dash - Hyperactivity reflected in speed.
Jack Jack - The monster at the end was representative of how troublesome babies can be.
