Is Parallels Desktop 6 good for gaming, or is BootCamp still needed?

I just want to know if the latest Parallels 6 is good for playing the latest games, or if Boot Camp is still the best option for gaming

If you game, Bootcamp is your best choice
Virtualization isn't going to give you a satisfactory experience

Virtualization probably won't ever yield good gaming results, so bootcamp is definitely the best bet.

I run a pretty 3D intensive Radio Control Airplane flight sim called "Real Flight" on a core 2 duo 2.8Ghz and it runs pretty darned well.

Try Crysis2 or BFBC2 for kicks 😉
Don't expect Fusion or Parallels to yield satisfactory results for gaming, at least for newer games using DirectX10 or later.
