This Powermac G5 my mother purchased a few months ago (used, obviously) works fine, but I was researching the possibility of upgrading it from powerpc to intel, and I KNOW the processor chip is soldered to the logic board, which costs A LOT. But would it not be possible to simply purchase a (likely used) logic board from a website such as eBay?

If yes, would anything else be required, or simply a second hand logic board and a new intel processor?

If no, why? I'm a bit of a computer noob when it comes to complex things such as logic boards.

What you are trying to do is not possible, the G5 logic board is built on a totally different architecture than the Intel boards are. You would never be able to socket an Intel processor on the board, and if you could, it could never work!
