Lion: FTP on/off via Terminal?

Hi,
I would like to know, how to switch on/off FTP file sharing via Terminal.
Anybody knows?
It's a technical, not a security question. :)

You shouldn't be using FTP anymore, it is not secure which is why Apple removed it in Lion. Instead use SFTP which is part of SSH (Remote Login) which can be enabled in Sharing.

Sorry, my question was technical only.
I got the information, that FTP still can be switched on/off via Terminal.

So I'm interested in how to do it.

Does remote login enable SFTP also? I could have sworn I had this turned on in file sharing under SL but I don't see any sign of it in Lion.

I'd assume so unless they changed the daemon since both run via the SSH daemon.

If you want FTP go with something like pureftpd apple's ftpd has always been kind of annoying to configure.

Sorry, you're right! :)

SFTP is that simple and I can connect very easy now again with my iPhone (apps: iStorage, ezShare etc.) to my Macs!
So I don't need the Terminal.
