Sleep Doesn't work on macbook

I have a 2nd gen macbook. With a ssd with snow leopard on it with just the system files on the ssd and then my user folder on a hdd. The user folder is shared between snow leopard and my lion install on the hdd. Now ever since I went the way of having only the snow leopard system files on the ssd sleep has not worked on snow leopard but it works on lion. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue or if anyone has any idea what may be causing something like.
