Well, I just came back. Did not buy a PB :). But I did hear about the Mac Mini Ultimate, which you can buy at the store fotr $879. It has bluetooth, airport extreme, and 512 MB RAM already installed (and I believe it's the 1.42 ghz model). Anyways, I'd never heard of it. But I didn't buy it.

I came back having less of a decision in mind for when Tiger comes out. I'll have about $1700 to spend, so I can get a PB (but I hate the screen), a Mac Mini and screen (I don't think it's powerful enough, after trying it out, and it's not portable- but I could always sell it later and buy a PB when I get the money, but it would take like 8 months to a year), or an iMac (can only afford 17" and I hate the screen, it's not portable). Maybe prices will drop nicely with Tiger and I can afford something better. Otherwise, I think I'll have to wait until I have at least $2000 - 21000, as I need to spend $150 on Mic. Office.

Oh well, it was fun going :p IS TIGER HERE YET?!! :D

There must be something more - that comes to $773 on store.apple.com. Even adding a superdrive is still less - maybe that includes a keyboard and mouse or Applecare?

well that makes me mad. i would have liked to have gotten my mini from the store with all of that. especially a superdrive (if it has one). i really regret not getting the superdrive. but oh well, too late now

What do you hate about the screen? Just the size?

I'm not sure if it was $879; one person told me that price another said around $800. It's not advertised, they just told me about it.

On the PB's, I think the screen is very dim, sort of dull compared to screens that are available today. For example, what I have on my PC laptop now is AMAZING, very crisp and bright. But I'd rather have a better OS than a nice screen and a useless OS. I'm just not sure if I'll be happy with the screen.

I'll have about $1700 to spend,
or an iMac (can only afford 17" ).

iMac G5 20" refurb at apple.com for $1599 + sales tax BUT no shipping ( and possibility of "silent" upgrade - extra RAM or bluetooth )
OR
smalldog.com has the same deal - $1599 + shipping ( ~ $34 ) BUT no sales tax.

i'm really tempted

The only problem is no AP, which I have no idea how to install. And I really want the bluetooth/wireless keyboard and mouse.

Those are good deals though :).
