eBay is probably the best place to buy it. Make sure you get the black retail disc, not the gray restore disc.

Also check your local Craigslist.

Sometimes macofalltrades.com has the retail disc, but I don't see it listed right now. Although a lot of times I check the site it's there

I recently read where Apple still sells Lion Leopard for users that can't upgrade to SL. Can't remember the link.

What?
Is this question intended for me? If so, I recall reading somewhere (perhaps a post on Macrumors) that Apple still sells Leopard for users that are on fast G4's and G5's. They don't sell it at the online store, but through a special 800 number.

I've been trying to find that post for the last 10 minutes, without success.

UPDATE

Here's where I found it. It's on Apple's Discussion Boards.

3rd post says that Applecare sells it, but it's not advertised. $129.

Yeah, my bad. Anyways, it seems as though Apple still sells Leopard, but it's not really promoted. They rather folks replace the PPC Macs with new Intel ones.

Yes that is the main idea, apple is not a software company, it is a hardware company. It profits more on Hardware...

Apple will still sell it to those who need it, but you have to order it through 1-800-MY-APPLE, and you obviously won't be able to find it in the stores.

You can do it this way, but it would be cheaper if you went with either craigslist or eBay. Or just find a friend who uses macs and upgraded to snow leopard and has an old disk lying around that you can use.

Seems like the prices for used Leopard DVDs have come way down. I remember looking last year and most sellers on eBay and Craigslist for asking $200+ for the retail DVD.
