As a developer responsible primarily for the technological platform behind the game, I am proud to present our first application: Ball Invasion.

Ball Invasion is the first (and only) iPad application to use the NASA-invented Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology to build real-time 3D maps of the environment as you move the iPad's camera around. This is only possible with the iPad2 dual core A5 CPU.

The objective of Ball Invasion is to shoot malicious and cunning balls hiding in the real world, visible only through your iPad2's camera. Unlike other Augmented Reality games, Ball Invasion doesn't require printed or known markers, but instead tracks the environment around you.

13th Lab is a small Swedish company trying to turn Computer Vision into a platform for the developer community.

Since Ball Invasion is the first application based on this platform, we offer it at a reduced price, hoping to receive feedback to help us in our efforts. Please let us know what you think!

The best way to preview the app is probably this video:

Here's a review:

GigaOM: Augmented Reality just got a lot more exciting (http://gigaom.com/2011/07/12/augmented-reality-just-got-a-lot-more-exciting/)

And the AppStore link: Ball Invasion for iPad 2 (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ball-invasion-for-ipad2/id444853211?mt=8)

Please also note that Ball Invasion requires an iPad 2. Not only does it need the full computational power of the dual core A5 cpu a back facing camera is also essential.
