I needed to swap out my hard-drive, so I dmg'd the Boot Camp partition in order to back it up, but I'm having trouble getting it working again. Whenever I restore it, it doesn't boot. It either doesn't appear in the Option-button boot menu at all, or when selected gets stuck on the underscore prior to the Windows logo screen. When I reinstall Windows afresh, all is working fine. I can only assume the .dmg contains outdated boot information, which I need to fix.

I've tried fdisk to make the drive bootable, I've tried fixmbr, fixboot and rebuildbcd from the Windows 7 install CD, and a couple of other things, but now I'm out of ideas. Any thoughts?

Do you still have the original drive? You could use Winclone instead of Disk Utility "raw". It does some extra stuff to save and restore the boot record. You should be able to do it with the original drive connected as an external.
