Transferring iTunes files to new computer without losing them

Today I bought my first Mac, a MacBook Pro 13" which will arrive in 3 days. How do I avoid losing all of my iTunes files from my iPod touch when I first sync it to my new computer. What do I do? Is there a Mac app that I can buy? Or some trick with iTunes? Thanks
