Switch it to the i5 1.7. You won't get any noticeable performance increase with the i7 but you'll have worse battery life and a hotter computer.

Ordered me a 13" base model. My 13" MBP will go to my wife, she doesnt travel nearly as much as I do.

Should be here tomorrow. Only $16 for overnight shipping - I would have spent that just in gas driving to and from the Apple store tomorrow.

Got a 13in with i7 as well Next Tuesday to Thursday is my eta.

Got the 13" base model. Ordered just, arrives by 9am on either the 21st or 22nd July. Just in time for my holiday!

Ordered same computer as OP.
Will have it by August 1st.

I was expecting to see some first hand commentary on the new MBA - not a report on when the expected arrival date was.

ULTIMATE 13 inch MBA here

I got the 256GB 13" i5. I don't really need that much more processing power, but I DO need the 256 as it is going to be my only computer for a while.

I spent the 16 bones for next day shipping. Hopefully that means tomorrow and not friday because I'll be at work when it comes.

Ahhh bought to pull a trigger on the 13" base 128gb. Dont need to pay 300 for extra storage or more for speed since I purchased a 3'4 27" i7 1tb + 256 ssd on sunday.

Got the base 13 inch!! Have had an HP Envy 15 (Ubuntu, not Windows) for the last year - which had replaced my black MacBook - and I can't wait to get this lap-melting slab of metal out of my life. As brilliant as the 1080p matte screen is, it's just not a good machine.


This lack of confirmation from Apple about my order is killing me! I know they're probably overloaded today, but I feel like I've done something wrong in the order process! I know I haven't...I'm not quickly clicking through confirmations for a $1300 machine, but oohh the anticipation

Just received "is shipped" email message, coming by UPS in 2 days! (friday).

BTW just installed Lion @ iMac and MBP, is running great.

MBAIR 11.6/1.6/4/128FLASH-USA and a new Mac Mini with the 6630 vid card. The Air, just shipped.

I even went against my feelings back to the 11inch. This combo with my Cinema display is going to be great I think.

When you order online from the education store, do you have to show proof that your a student, like give a student number?

I ordered it at 12:55 EST. I wonder what their cutoff is for shipping same day. I chose next day air shipping and hope it ships today.

I have bought stuff from edu store few times and never had to show/submit proof.

Ordered 2 X 13" Ultimate today. Wont get it until next week, i7 pushes ship date to 1-3 days.

Well i guess that might make sense. Since the i5 is a 2 core and has 2 virtual cores.

while the i7 is also 2 cores, but probably with turbo boost.

I wish we could see the benchmarks.

No way mate. The extra MB L3 cache should make for a noticable difference. Its also 50 Mhz faster of a GPU... not as MUCH of a difference but slight. Also combined with a slightly faster clock... i don't know i don't know, we'll have to see the tests. But I would not call it so definitevly as you have.

I never had to show proof, I just selected my university and that's it.
