I didn't like the Emac at first..
every time I go to the apple store, I end up playing on one.. That thing is faster then my Digital Audio Powermac..
They are a nice computer, and i like the looks of it now!!

Excellent use of the seems-like-another-Tiger-prediction thread! :p :D
It hurt me a little inside when my baby beloved iBook became one year old...capture those moments on film, because they'll never come again! ;)

I like them too, it will be interesting to see where they go with it when they finally update it, if they do.

maybe the emac will be some G4 powered flat panel monitor machine which will round out the lower end mac market who don't need the mini mac (which was designed for pc switchers)
apple inc could use the G5 pro line and pro-sumer line (imac) with the higher price tag and the ultra affordable mini mac and, hopefully, an all new g4 powered flat panel emac to round out their line well into 2006
i would be surprised if the emac went to a g5 processor before the powerbooks

I was thinking of posting this thread earlier today too. You beat me to it.
One year. They should come out with an annaversary version. You know, the same computer but you get a free T-shirt or something.

It'd even be sweet if they sent you a birthday card... :) *goes out to get a cake and one candle for the emac*

Whats the longest any Apple hardware has gone without update?
Depends how you look at it....
The 400 MHz PowerMac G4 was introduced in August 1999
The first "real update" was introduced January 2001 (the Digital Audio Macs)
But in between Apple did introduce the Dual 450 and 500. But the Single 400 has been around (and even lowered in speed to 350 MHz in October 1999) for about 18 months....
Bad days back then.

Hmmmm...iPod headphones? :D And they could use a little ergonomic update, since they don't seem to stick in anyone's ears....

This made me think of how long the G4 has been being used. Too bad it is still not a "supercomputer" chip like it was when it was first introduced. However, the long life of the G4 does show you how great of chip it really is through all of its different revisions. It seems as if, at the moment, the G4, at its current pace, may have a ten year anniversary in Macs in a couple of years. Maybe we will be up to a 200mhz bus by then?
