You are right, and I understand you are making a joke, but please understand that Code Red, absolutely did affect mac users. I do not fully understand everything Code Red, but it did attack Cisco routers. How does this affect macs? Some dsl mac users, including me, have cisco routers. So yes, code red did not affect my mac directly it could have affected me.

Chernyobl was the most fun for me.

I was doing double-duty as the virus protection. I had everyone switch their clocks ahead by a week so that they would miss the date.

Of course, all the appointments opened up right away and they each had 5-50 reminders on their desktop.

Maybe, I should have told them to set the clock a week back...hmm. :D

Dang it, I was going to say windows, but then I see that it is an option in the poll. I thought I would be the 1st to think of that... I guess I'm not as cool as I thought I was :D.

after i had had klez wipe out/slow down my ability to surf on my windows machine, i voted for it...the others did not affect my pc in three years of owning it

i got a new virus, which i call the teddy bear virus because it's icon is a teddy bear, is out now

on a windows machine, go to start, then to find files/folders,

type in bg

see if the teddy bear icon is there

right click and send it to recycle bin

and then empty the recycle bin

this "teddy bear" virus is one that lays dormant for 14 days, and then attacks the pc and so far, norton's latest anti-virus product won't detect it

so now, on my pc, i have to manually search out this virus every week until the threat is gone...what a pain so i will use my mac for going out into the world of the internet and email

i knew macs were better, but since i have been infected twice on my windows laptop this year, i feel like i may never buy another pc even though i am a pc tech:p

from working at my parents apple dealer i see my fair share of viruses. we also tech work on pcs as well as macs. we never see any for the mac. but the worst one we have seen so far has probably been the klez virus. so MANY people have gotten that virus it is ridiculous. and even if you fdisk the hard drive and format it it is still there. the way we got around it was if it needed to be formatted we would take it into the g4 and format it to macos and then format it back to ntfs of fat32 or whatever. that seemed to fix everything. the klez isnt as big now as it was back in the summer time. just sharing my experiences.

jethatfield:

AFAIK, the file with the teddy bear icon is the Java Debug Manager, or something like that. It itself is part of Windows. However, there is a virus that does target that file (but Norton can detect and eliminate it).

anybody remember that virus that would open up porn sites when you opened it? I remember it on the news and even snl.Somehow I don't think they got around to fixing that one since no one complained.:D
