I can't find my receipt for my macbook pro ('11 from Best Buy) and I need a proof of purchase to send to apple. I have the serial but that doesn't count, is there anything else that would count as a "proof of purchase?" I'm constantly looking for the receipt.

That's a good idea but I'm not sure if  will accept it.

Call them, and tell them you can't find the receipt.

Your credit card transaction in combination with the serial number of you mbp should be enough.

PS: Call BestBuy and ask for a copy of your receipt.

I doubt BB will have a copy. Credit Card statement should work just fine. For future reference, if you buy from Apple store you can ask them to email you the receipt for a digital copy.

a credit card statement is also a legal proof of ID.
Actually no it's not. That statement does not prove who a person is. It is really only a supporting document, combined with other forms of ID.

Best Buy can provide another copy of the receipt, but they may charge for it.

What I started doing is taking a picture of my receipts with my iPhone, then cropping it. It's a great way to archive them for this sort of issue.

I bought a iPod classic from best buy a few years ago and this past winter had a issue. Went to best buy they asked for my name and phone number pulled the sales slip right up for me. And I asked what if I had no phone number on file they said search by CC number.

I googled it and sure enough I was lead to Best Buy's website and it said they would give me my receipt if I had the credit card that was used. Thanks!😀

wonder why they are asking for this? i just used my serial number and dates, also from BB. got my code instantly.

I stand corrected, good point.

I was going to say, Best Buy keeps all purchases that you make in a system for at least two years. It's kinda creepy, but it is useful when you want to get a receipt from them.
