I have a LaCie 1TB external drive on which I backup my imac via Time Machine. I just ordered a second LaCie drive which I plan to partition, using one half for my general files and the other half as a backup to what Time Machine has laid down on the first drive.

How do I do this? Do I use the <copy> command to copy the backed up (Time Machine) files from the old drive to the new drive or do I halt backup temporarily to the old drive and backup once to the new drive, and then switch back to the old drive? Or, can I designate in TM that it back up to both drives each hour and in that case, how do I indicate which partition in the new drive it should back up to?

I guess I'm just uneasy interrupting the normal backup flow to the first drive. But I want a second backup copy (at east one iteration) just to be safe.
