Does anyone know if DVD Studio Pro can shrink/compress and back up DVDs like Popcorn or Fast DVD copy?

No, it won't. I don't think it will even let you import the VOB files. Anyway, your best bet is popcorn or dvd2oneX. Or if you have a PC, DVD Shrink is free and excellent software.

I like to use Handbrake. It is not fancy, but the stuff is simple and it uses simple terms that I understand. I think it is great for when I want to rip episodes of Family Guy or Futurama to put on my PSP.

Handbrake is not a Popcorn alternative as it results in avi/mp4 files, not VOBs, which is what Popcorn does.

I have found a combination of MacTheRipper and DVD2oneX a far superior combination to that of Popcorn.

Well worth the money. My kid still damages DVDs, just not the originals.

Max.
