I remember using macs in school, and one of the startup sounds stuck with me. The notes are F,G,C,C1. Does anyone remember what mac made that startup sound?

No, I looked at those before with Mactracker. I remember it was in the Classic OS days, back when At Ease was popular.

Well, found out At Ease was with System 7 and up (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_Ease), so anything from the Mac LC and up might have the sound you are looking for

With the sound you are talking about, it may be a death sound instead of a startup sound.

This is what i could find about the Mac startup sound (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_startup)

It was system 8 or 9 I think. The computers booted properly and had a happy mac face. The final note was an "ah" sound, whereas the preceding notes were sort of an "oh" sound.

ROFL

I had to ask my gf who is hardcore into music and she dug out her keyboard and started playing the chords.

It sounded familiar until we finally found out that sound.

F G C C1 is the theme to Intels swirling logo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvAGrEVGERQ&feature=related)
