booting into bootcamp with 3rd party keyboard

I have a 3rd party keyboard that i use regularly. It's a usb keyboard (razer brand if it matters) using usb.

I was under the impression that you just press the left alt key while computer boots to HD partitions but I can't get it to do that. Is there some option that I have to enable somewhere before I can use this keyboard to boot into bootcamp?

Also on a unrelated note there seems to be a 2nd "windows" partiton no matter how I format the HD. What's up with that? Is that normal?

Some combinations just don't work.

For example on my Core Duo iMac, I have an Apple Aluminum (wired) KB that can't bring up the menu. I typically use the remote. Yet, I have a Logitech KB that works.

Go figure.

If you do this a lot you might consider Boot Champ or BootPicker.
