how do i take this away without updating?

You can't unless you update all of your apps. Well, if you delete the apps to be updated, but I imagine you don't want to do that.

Assuming you mean this:

yea thats what i meant it wasn't there yesterday...
The app store checks for updates periodically and after it finds updates, it will display the red badge until the updates are applied or the apps are removed from your iPad.

Not much to do except to update the apps.

Yes, update. That means 22 of your apps will get updated with bug fixes, new features and new content, entirely for free!

If there's an app you don't want to update, you can use ifile to remove the "itunesmetadata.plist" file from that app, then it won't show in the app store anymore.
