Mini display port adapter offered for MBA - looks like an error.

Will there be a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter???

"because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video standard for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port. To connect a DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA display, just use an existing adapter."

The Thunderbolt connector is physically the same as a Mini DisplayPort connector and can be used to connect a MDP display with a regular MDP cable. That's why they offer MDP adaptors for the new MBA; just use them.

Yes they are the same shape, the difference is the microchip inside the cable.

DisplayPort devices would need to be at the end of the chain. So you'd have it like so:

MBA <-> Drive <-> Display.
