so i've got a $374.37
Merchandise return card from Comp USA

i have no desire to use it
but could use the cash (poor grad student and all)
can i sell it here?

i can take a picture of the Balance Inquiry form which is dated and has the $ on the card if that would help-

i'm looking to sell this for pretty much face value

so- let me know if i can sell it here
and let me know what folks are willing to pay for it-

if this is inappropriate usage of the forum- please let me know and accept my apology

Since I am usually not a thread crapper - I'll try to be gentle.

If you expect $374, I'm not sure you will have any luck. You see, why give you the $374 for a $374 gift card? Perhaps someone will feel for you or has a big heart, but honestly there is no benefit to the buyer to hassle with it since they could just as easily bring their $374 cash to compUSA for their purchase.

May I suggest you discount your asking price, so there is some incentive? Otherwise you could just buy something and eBay it for cash.

Finally, I may be interested in a few weeks since I almost have enough for my mini. I'll ping you then.

Where in IL are you located?

Just trying to help you out.

i'm in Kankakee, an hour south of the city
but i can bring things up to the city no prbm.

i guess i could 'lower' the price
but i havn't asked for a price yet
i'm just curious if folks are interested...etc

thought about the e-bay thing
the fees there stink-
but if i have to. i will.

thanks for the pointer-

Fair words IMO.

Too bad I am not in IL, i would be happy to go to CompUSA and buy something with this guy in tow.

Another thought.

You could try craigslist for more coverage...

woah- hold the confusion

i'm lookin @ the back of the CompUSA card
and it doesn't say that it is attached to anyone

so- i'm pretty sure anyone can use this anywhere

if there is doubt on that
i'll call CompUSA and ask them if my sister can use it in MA or something-
there are CompUSA's all over the country...etc

i'll check out craig's list though

i'd be interested in:

an iSight
A iPod Mini case/cover
an iPod Mini dock
a powercable/power unit for the iPod Mini (well any ipod as they all work so long as it works on a dock connector unit)

any of those w/ $

unless, of course, someone just wanted to 'give' me like a really nice G5 w/ a dual 30" screens - and a new desk to hold the machine on...

i did go ahead and post it on craig's list in chicago- thanks for that pointer

Why not just buy what you can with the credit?

Maybe the user does not like CompUSA. God knows most of us don't. Don't get accusatory... it's not fair.

yea
compUSA screwed me over $200
and so i don't want to support them w/ my business
however- working on a masters in teaching isn't really puttin cash in my pocket
so rather than being up the creek completely- i'd like to try and cut my losses.

if you want the full story PM me
it's rather dumb.

that- and i've been to 2 local(ish) stores- and they are both falling apart and have no organization- also management is completely useless

frustrating- so i'd rather let someone else 'deal' w/ them- etc

Yeah, but money is money.

Seems like an awful lot of work to try and make a point.

I agree with hating compusa. I went in there looking for some type of video input device for my mac. Stood in the mac section for about 30 minutes and no one ever spoke to me. One manager was degrading another clerk for the messy boxes, but failed to ask me if I needed anything. I was the only person in the mac section of the store. So I agree... I hate compusa and would drive an extra hour to go to the apple store in austin rather than go to compusa.

Keep the fight alive. LOL!!

Would pretty much require those idiots to be the last retailer on earth before i bought ANY kinda' Mac stuff from them. The Comp USA in Madison has had the same, 7or 8 key missing broke-dick Rev. C Powerbook on display forever. I finally gave up and drove to the Apple Store near Milwaukee.
Was back there (hell) again last week and I asked one of the minions why they don't get rid of the POS and put the current model out and the dumb a$$ tells me the Apple Rep told him they are in HUGE demand and Apple hasn't shipped any of the new ones yet.......WHATEVER YOU IDIOT!!

Anyways, I would consider the gift card but it would have to be reduced at least 30% from the face value to go get some kind of peripheral from that place.

Apple needs to expand the line of mini stores and dump those folks at Comp Idiots!!!!

When I used to work at a computer store, some folks would come in who were obsessed with the most minor.. silly details. I didn't care and I realized the person was a raving lunatic. I'm not saying either of those things about you, however you might want to re-read your post, baring in mind that not everyone feels as emphatic about a few missing keys on an old laptop, in madison, wisconsin. :o

I would have no problem helping this guy out and buying the store credit from him... but he's in a losing position. In order to sell the credit, he's going to take a loss (to get the sale, to transfer the funds via paypal) and in the end... he's lost $20 and CompUSA gets the SAME amount of cash back in the end. He's being pretty silly if he doesn't just suck it up and go spend it on what he wants.

You are not proving any kind of point with CompUSA. They already have your business and your money. They are making money off of you as long as you have that card. The longer that there is credit on the card, the happier they are.

If you can get someone to give you cash for the card, then, well, you win too! All this negative talk about CompUSA probably isn't really helping you sell that card though. :)
