Can anyone tell me what's the largest internal drive they've installed in a Mini? Or.... should I just go with a large external USB drive and keep the Mini stock?

Thanks!

I believe the largest 2.5" drive is 750GB right now, I dont believe it's a drive size limitation it's merely platter density that we wait on to get more storage.

Just remember to scale your backup solution accordingly. You need a backup drive at least twice as big as the summed disks you're backing up. Ideally, you'd have two and use them alternately.

Before anyone orders a 1TB 2.5" HD, note that it has to be 9.5 mm. The 12.5 mm HD's are too large to fit in a Mini. The 1TB 2.5" HD's have been all 12.5 mm's but new 9.5 mm's are now available. READ WHAT YOU ARE ORDERING CAREFULLY so you do not buy the wrong size HD. The New Egg link posted above has both sizes available. You do not want the 12.5 mm HD's if you are putting them in a Mini.

I've been trying to read through the tear downs. Is the extra space available to hold two standard 9.5mm HDD's or will the heat be an issue. I just never wanted to spend the money on a SSD for the small space it offers. I might think about just as a boot up disk at least and put the 1 TB inside as well.
