Hi,

I have the latest iMac, with the i5 quad sandy bridge, ATI graphics etc etc. So my spec is good.

Snow Leopard runs sweet. Fast, responsive. I hardly hear the hard drive spinning, and when it does it does so only briefly. I'm not sure this model has a fan, as I don't hear it.

Lion is definitely slower on my system (I've just gone back to SL) even though it's a high end, new system.

And in Lion the hard drive is running / spinning almost all the time. It's really annoying. Even though I don't do anything that intensive.

I noticed that just with a handful of apps open I'm down to 700mb of free RAM from 4gigs.

So is the HD spinning so often due to a shortage of RAM? If I upgrade to 8gigs does anyone know if it's likely to stop?

Thanks.
