Normally I dont post uninvited music recommendations, but if you are into animation, you have to see this DVD.

Lemon Jelly based this album around a sample per track from different decades, 1964-1995. They've produced a DVD with videos for each track and its absolutely stunning to say the least.

Each track is a different style of animation and its amazing how the whole DVD flows.. normally I get bored with music DVD's after the first or second song, but this kept me entertained for its duration

So if you like Lemon Jelly, you really gotta check this one out, even if you dont - try it.. you might like it!

Also you might wanna check out Airside (http://www.airside.co.uk/) - which is their animation company.

Haven't yet seen this but was a little disappointed in the album although colleagues asssure me that much of the new material works better live.

Missed the Somerset House gig :(

thanks for the tip. I like lemon jellys unauthorized sample of Chicagos `if you leave me now` I`ll check it out just based on that.

Further more. If you like interesting animation Check out the Royksopp CD, Melody AM. The CD has three quicktime of there animation videos which are outstanding to say the least.

One of the best is `Remind Me` which is akin to textbook animation. Everything is animated to look like a diagram in a school textbook.
it literally blew me away when i saw it for the first time.

Later, the energy company Areva used the technique for one of it commercials which was posted on their web site for a short time.

Lemon Jelly is great, but their last album was just okay. I'm not going to buy the DVD of an album I don't even love too much.

I think the album works better with the visuals. I recommend watching the DVD before listening to the album :)

Man i didnt know there where videos on Melody AM.. might have to treat myself to that on CD. Any news on a new album? Last I heard it was almost done, then their computer crashed and all was lost.. I believe they use macs as well so thats a kick in the teeth :p.. maybe that'll teach them to back up their stuff!

Theres a video on the lemon jelly dvd thats done like a handdrawn animation on a sketch book - i think its for the shouty track. its quite possibly the funniest thing i've ever seen - two characters headbanging and punching each other!

I look forward to having a look at that Areva link but its not working here at work so i'll have a look at home.

Another video i really like is the one for Blur's Good Song - done by David Shrigley (link) (http://www.davidshrigley.com/) checkout his site for some simple funny animations
